That Smell

I've got two plants in a grow tent and they are in their 12 hour dark cycle. The fan is not on. Should it be? I know its kind of smelling up the condo. Anyone with that problem/experience? :peace:

don't ever turn ur fans off if they are part of your odur control, the odur will get into the rest of your living space very quick and will linger. Check out ONA gel for add odur control, its industrial strength air freshner most hydro shops carry it

yeah i run my fans 24/7 too. i've never really heard of a good reason to turn them off. depending on your set up you might think about getting a carbon filter.

A good carbon filter is crucial. I have a ozone master running now and its brilliant, smell doesn't come out of the grow room I put ona gel around it to so the smell goes round the place.

Strain dependent of course, but the rule of thumb is the further into flower, the stinkier things are going to get.

Deal with it now, or deal with the consequences of someone recognizing it later.

Oh, and don't turn your fans off.
And welcome to RIU.

I've got a variac transformer-voltage regulator in the mail. Should be here today. I can slow the fan down a little and save electricity and reduce noise. I just hope the carbon filter does not shxt the bed during this grow cycle. I better get the ONA gel as a backup. Does ozone affect the plants if you put it in the grow tent? Or is that just in extreme concentrations? Thanks for the advice on the fan and the carbon filter and the ONA gel!

EDIT: I wonder if the clones being same age as their mother also emit the "odor"? I've got those in a closet under a couple of 65W CFL 6500K photography bulbs with two seedlings.

Hanging your fan with a bungee cord and insulated ducting will quiet your fan down a lot. If you dont have negative pressure in your tent the smell will get out

wouldnt put the ozone in the grow tent just in the room or outside it depending on how much your plants smell

It will cause corrosion around moisture just looked at my booklet so dont have it in the tent. Will affect humidity. Have it outside the room thats the best bet, mines just out in my house out of view works brilliantly.
