I have been vegging some widows for two weeks under 22/2 light schedule. About a few days ago I noticed some white dots. I mean tiny tiny tiny salt crystals which you need a magnifying glass to see. They are not clustered, they are spread apart, as if you salted the leaves. THere is no damage on the leaves, no discoloration (white or otherwise). I can't figure out what it is, and I assumed it was a mildew/fungus powder that everyone posts about here. But since I've seen them (several days ago), the spots have not changed in size or number, and the plant continues to do well. I figured if this was mold, it would have had some kind of effect on the plant by now. So someone suggested they are early trichomes developing. I thought my 2-week old plants are too young for crystals. But I looked this up, and aparently there are like 4 types of thrichomes, all of which develop at different times, and have different shapes, etc. There are 2 types which grow in the early vegetative state (i think called bulbous and capitate trichomes). Is this at all a possibility?? At this point I am looking for any explanation OTHER than mold! I know 2 weeks is REALLY early for crystal development, but has anyone seen this before? Or am I screwed with mildew?
