THCA vs THC

It seems like there is a debate between the difference between these two substances. On the one hand, any decarboxylation guide will tell you that THCA is the naturally occuring form of THC in a plant, and that heat is required to break the acetate bond so that you get the psychoactive THC. and yet i have found other forums where it's implied that THCA is actually more potent that THC, and perhaps even gives a different high. So what is it? Is THCA actually psychoactive in itself? Or are there different types of THCA and I'm just unaware of the differences? To illustrate what i mean as far as the inconsistency in information, below are two links, one that is affirming the impotence of THCA, another that is discussing the methods of turning THC into THCA.

for some reason, the site delayed the posting of this thread. I think its because i posted a link to another rollitup page, which has been removed from my opening comment. I do not know how to delete threads, but please bring the discussion to the subsequent thread i posted after this one failed to post. They are essentially the same. In the meantime, i am going to attempt to delete this thread.

THCA isn't psychoactive, because its polarity keeps it from readily passing the blood brain barrier.

Shatter usually has higher total THC than decarboxylated oil, as less of the THC has been subsequently converted to CBN.
