The "Art" of Flushing...

Alright so I am needing someone to explain flushing to me. As I understand since I am using 2.5gal containers I would need to flush with 5 gal of water per container? Ok first off, seems like way too much water at once, will they not drown??? Secondly if this method is correct, do all 5gal of water need to pass through my rockwool specifically? Thirdly, I believe that there are certain elements that need moving water to be available to the plants, if so, how fast of moving water? (how fast to pour?)

I'm not a theorycist, but I use 3 gallons pots. I feed 1 liter every 2-3 days. I flush with 2 liters after every 4th feed. Last 2 weeks I flush with 3-4 liters (~1 gal).

They won't drown as long as you let it dry to a respectable level after the "flush". Then when the pot feels light you would do another "flush" with pure water.

Now lots would yell at you until their red in the face and say that flushing only hurts your yield and that a good slow cure is what really matters. But i understand if you would rather be safe than sorry. Truth be told there will be no end to the battle of flushing vs not. And theres reputable growers with mad fire on both sides.

IMHO 5 gallons is also overkill, you could easily flush with 2-3 gallons, but to each their own.

Cool..thanks for the insight bro. I am glad someone agrees with it being a little too much water at once The reason I am flushing is because my runoff on the 29th had a ph of 6.4 which is too high for hempy I believe..So in order to get my ph stable again I am going to flush instead of trying to over fert correct the situation, that is the solution I have come up with but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Flushing means cleaning out old nutes. So yes it will Sean like alot of water. In soil it should be 3x water to the size of the pot. Hydro your adding water till nutes are not realy held in media. So 2x is good. Water is added at a rate that can be drained out not as fast as you can pour it in. But with flood and drain you can just use ph water for 2 feedings. But final flush is repeating what is listed above 1 week befor harvest and only water from there on.
