The Barrel Two

To those of you that followed my somewhat bumpy progress on my first Barrel grow, I can now say that I have ironed out boo-boo’s and mistakes that I had problems with the last time, you know, like brainfarts and bouts of dumbassitis.
I remembered to keep something plugged in and I remembered to check this and that on the ... and the … and change the … so you see, I am doing much better now thank you very much.
Here's the link to the firt try: https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/5794-barrel.html
So, off to the start the second try here.
But this time I am getting help from folks that are way more knowledgeable than I am in the form of most excellent clones from APE (APE SERVICES-Aesexual Propagation Experts) in the hopes that our target weight of four ounces will be reached.
APE SERVICES-Aesexual Propagation Experts - Index - Online active product catalog/community. - Free Message Board Hosting by FreePowerBoards.com <<< check them out.
Brazilian Skunk:
(A crossing with Original Green and Early Chemo.
Outdoor/Greenhouse/indoor
Height: 1,20mts.
Yield: 150grms.
Flowering: 9 weeks.
Brazilian Skunk = Original Green x Early Chemo
Early Chemo = Early Girl X UBC Chemo
Original Green = Landraces from the 80s; Brazil, Sao Paulo
Early Girl =?
UBC Chemo =?) will be what I am going to try this time.
The last batch did the trick to an extent as far as alleviating some of the symptoms of my illness’ but not all of them, and so I am hopeful that this time I will have a strain that will be of greater help to me in my daily business of simply staying alive and being the best househusband to my wife and Parrot dad to my feathered family that I possibly can.
I’m still going to blow it here and there and probably do something totally idiotic along the way but I am hopeful, lol.
I won’t put more pics of the Barrel “workings” here as I already have some good ones of that in the first Barrel thread and will just keep it to the weekly plant pics.
Here is what it is supposed to look like in the end: (perhaps in my dreams, lol)

And here are what they look like out of the starting gate.

What a beauty. You get a 10 on the McGyver scale for McGyvering.
I might have to copy that thing.

And here is the weekly update on the Barrel grow.

I would like to thank APE SERVICES-Aesexual Propagation Experts - Index - Online active product catalog/community. - Free Message Board Hosting by FreePowerBoards.com again for providing these nicely growing clones, they look very promising so far.

The only difference I have noticed so far in the two grows is that I neglected to keep in mind that these clones were packed in soil as opposed to the last batch that were in grow cubes.
So I had a little clogging issue that was caught fast and expertly fixed by the mastermind behind the Barrel (not me btw.)
He drops by every now and then to see if I am screwing up and will pop me upside the head should that be the case. :-P

Other than that things are looking peachy.
:peace:

The drip system is on a timer and waters an hour long every 6 hours.
I'm adding nutrients everytime I add a gallon of water to keep the level up in the barrel which is maybe once a week (as per 1st Barrel grow.)

Oops ... forgot the light question, yes that is a 150.

Interesting stuff, Graehstone. It's a little hard to see because of the colouring of the HPS lighting (set your cam for 'incandescent' lighting if you can), but it looks like you might have had a bit of fert burn going on. Could alternately be a little too warm.

What is the air temperature range looking like?

Greetings-
Yep...there is just a bit of fert burn there. I helped Graehstone get the barrel set up and have helped him tune his h2o occasionally. The last time I checked TDs it had gotten up to 1300 ppm. Graehstone needs his own meter for sure ;)

Thanks, GT.

1300ppm doesn't sound so bad- I mix for 1300-1500ppm and dump my tanks 15 days later, when they have dropped to 800-900ppm with the tanks topped up with plain water.

There's one or two leaves in the barrel grow which give the impression that the air temps have been a bit high. Wondering also how air is being circulated inside the barrel. I don't see any circ fans in there. Is the exhaust fan moving the leaves around enough not to need one?

Greetings,
Just to clarify, I built the barrel for my buddy Graehstone. It is an evolution of a design I statred over 5 years ago but I owe most of what is incorporated into the system to sites like overgrow (rip). The system lives with Graehstone but I get to visit sometimes lol.
Heres a link to a thread with more comprehensive pictures of the system
https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/5794-barrel.html
there are a total of 3 fans all pushing out ( passive intake) . All the fans are in the top of the barrel but with the cfm theyre moving the air isn't stagnant. The canopy doesen't typicaly get above 29 celcius. There has been occasional leaf burning from the 3 40w floros that are around the parameter of the barrel.
The 1300 ppm was using purified / RO water so the babies were getting a good shot of nitrogen. The ph had also crept up to 6.6. Because Graehstone doesn't yet have his own meter his water isn't perfect. I'm thinking I should set him up with Pure Blend Pro instead of the current GH 3-part he's using...I hear it takes less ph balancing.

Peace & thanks for checking out the thread. Stay tuned for further updates and possibly a DWC variant.

Sorry for the "late" update but life kind of got in the way of living for a bit there. Sometimes it sucks and other times it sucks worse.
Anyhow ... here you go folks, getting there, slowly but surely.
