Hey everyone at RIU!:)

After ALOT of research, questions, and careful planning, I have decided that I DO wanna start to grow marijuana as soon as possible!:D This guide is to help myself prepare to grow!(And anyone other beginners who are going to start but not really sure where to start!)

So I compiled this list of things for a budget grow. I'm only 18 and broke lately:( but I managed to save up $400 so far!
(Canadian dollars) :)
This list has some important (Correct me if I'm wrong) things every grower should have to start growing with the least trouble.

Grow Type:
Small Closet Grow
2-5 Plants

Help guide me through this:

MY CHECKLIST:
400w HPS/MH light-------------- $320.00
OR
(6) 26w CFL 6400k-------------- $22.00
(8) 26w CFL 2700k-------------- $28.00

1.pH Meter ---------------------- $25.00
2.Moisture Meter------------------ $10.00
3.pH Up+Down------------------- $15.00
4.Soil (help decide)-------------- $20.00
5.Seeds(White Widow)--------- $60.00
6.Pots(5gal)----------------------- $12.00
7.Nutrients------------------------- $40.00
(Not sure about nutrient price)

8.Mylar------------------------------ $30.00
OR
Flat White Paint---------------- $10-$15.00

9.(2) Small fans----------------------- $30.00
10.DIY Carbon Filters--------------- $30.00
11.Rubbermaid Container--------- $5.00
12.Electric Timer--------------------- $15.00
13.Temp & Humidity Meter--------- $20.00

With a total of about $632.00 for everything that I could think of:D
:!:
What am I missing?

Is there anything that isn't nessassary thats here?

What else do you guys think I should add in to get a better grow started?

Any help here would be ALOT of help as I'm still not sure.

Any advice, recommendations, or thoughts on my checklist?

Cheers :D

im sorry to say but for a small scale operation ur really looking into things that are more then what u need. I mean ive made a closet grow cab for about 200$ total that including ventination and everything, i used CFL's and its working great

actually im just worried that the ph of the water, soil, stays right so i dont end up getting nutrient problems or other problems

just watch for signs of overfeeding (and adjust nutes/watering accordingly) and give no nutes every 3rd or 4th watering.. i've done 2 grows in soil so far and no need for that ph stuff at all here - may save you some dollars and time too.

I disagree, $15 isn't much money, and it's for something very important that will help the plants, no need so skimp out $15 and lose something vital. I'd say your list looks good, add some ducting and possibly some Bon-Neem if you might have a pest problem. When it comes to the soil, I recommend starting with FoxFarm Light Warrior and then moving to FoxFarm Ocean Forest/ perlite mix after they grow up a bit. For nutrients all I'm using is the FoxFarm Soil Trio, Superthrive (very little needed, few drops once or twice a few weeks into veg), Unsulphered Blackstrap Molasses, and KoolBloom at the end of flowering. I'd also recommend Flat White Paint (brush on kind, not spraypaint) instead of mylar for that small area, and it's much cheaper.

Also, check out the homemade co2 generator that's a sticky, one or two of those wouldn't hurt, depends how much of a budget you're really on.

Before I can talk about the specifics of your operation, i'd like to know about your location as a whole. Do you live alone? In an apartment building or a house? Do you rent or own your own property? How many people have access to your house, assuming you want this to be kept secret? Maybe this is different for us, but before I think about lights, and water, and growing method, I'd like to know about where your stinky air is being vented, where your nutrients and equipment is coming from, and where you plan to burn your stems and dump your dirt. For me, the biggest thing to get used to is security. I'm not worried about the cops so much as nervous that I might get embarrassed by my mother in law.

List looks complete. You put some thought into it. Depending on the size of the closet what do you do to bring in fresh air?
