I live in Australia and could not find any of those pen containers. I have seen them around somewhere but could not remember where so i improvised using 2 small plastic plant pots and drilled about 100 holes in the side. Thanks for the idea.

Just starting out on my first indoor grow. I am in the process of completing my grow cabs and just took clones from my plant to start sexing it the coming weeks. Feel free to stop by and check it out. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/105982-my-first-grow-room-build.html

PS- Thanks for the top ideas on the filter.

wow simply put.

I am having a grow box which is about 2.5' x 1.5' x 7', you think 1 will be enough? What kind of fan do you use that is hooked up to this?/

I have roughly an 8x8 room with 3 pepper plants and 10 small girls (hoping not boys) I have a ~200 cfp fan pulling in fresh air from outside, for now it just runs 18 hours a day while the lights are on. I've been having some very warm humid weather lately, so the room has been staying around 75% humidity around 80f. some of the leaves were showing bad signs from the heat.

no carbon filter hooked up yet, but I'm starting to smell the plants in the room already. they're about 3 inches tall now, and getting smelly. is that a good sign? I put an old ion air filter in the room, it seems to help a little, but there is still a slight smell. I have a carbon filter ready to hook up when it's needed.

Hi WZ,

Here's my copy of your filter installed. Forgot to take pics while making the thing but I just followed your example. Here's pictures of the filter installed.

No duct tape used. Used a long knee high stocking to cover and secured tightly with wooden clamps screwed into place. Works great for $7 in parts!!!

Thanks again,
QS

Yo Quickset...so is that mounted OUTSIDE of your room? Do you have the fan inside the room pulling that room air thru the wall (ducting), into the filter, then out the filter into (what?). I'm interested in using somethin like this in a 2x5x7 closet with 400w aircooled HPS. I can vent directly into the attic and or out of the attic (thru roof). I'm just confused as to if I can use this method, but instead of forcing air through it, having air PULLED through it, via a fan (will a 256 booster in-line [I think 160cfm normal) or 424cfm in-line work?).

Basically, I want air to go through this path:

1. Room Odor
2. DIY Carbon Filter
(ducting if necessary)
3. Aircooled Hood
(duct if necessary)
4. 1 Fan (mounted in attic)
5. More ducting (if necessary) to top of attic vent.

I would REALLY like to keep the fans in the attic if at all possible...But, Is there a better way to do this? Also note, I probably will use passive intakes..as I don't really have a way to directly intake fresher air. I was thinkin pvc piping would work fine bottom of closet). I have 2 rooms side by side, both 2x5x7 or 2x5x8. I'm settin up seperate veg/flower rooms. Could I use 1 424 cfm fan to suck air through the flower room (as explained above) AND from the same size veg room with 6x24w t5 ho flouros? Maybe if I add a booster to the veg side it can be vented all in 1 system? That would be my ideal set up.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi BigBug992,
The filter is mounted on the inside of the unit. I mounted a 120 mm PC fan to the outside of my grow box which pulls air from the box. So my fan first pulls air through the filter mounted inside my grow box and then through the fan mounted on the outside.

You can do what I did but on a bigger scale, using a filter such as this one mounted inside one of the rooms, getting it's air from both rooms for a single odor control solution with the fan(s) mounted in the attic.

An alternative would be to use an air scrubber to control odor. The fan and filter are built as a single unit which is then placed in the grow box, closet or whatever room you want to control odors in. When in operation, it intakes and exhausts into wherever space it's placed in. You can use this means of odor control together with your attic ventilation solution without having to worry about integration details.

My filter size is working great for me. I have no idea how to size a filter to room volume but if you build an even bigging filter I'm sure you can't go wrong. Get the activated charcoal off eBay to save $$$.

Hope this helps. Thanks to WZ for the use of his thread in answering.

p.s. I want to supersize my order after seeing what's on your menu BigBug992.
