the best light for small grow

Hey all I'm looking for input on what light I should run for flowing my box is 2 by 2 by 4 and I would like to go led of I can find a reasonably priced one. I'm open to the idea of hps lights also but don't want to crank the electric bill. Plus I would think the space would get very hot being so small. Any input is much appreciated my plants are well into veg already so I'm looking to pull the trigger within the next week or two

depends on your budget, but the Mars Hydro LED lights are ok...they will not compete with HID but they still get the job done

I would suggest the Mars II 750watt...(it is same thing as the BlackDog 450 and under half the price)

Not at all, LED is very small coverage compared to HID. I would have to go back and look at the specs, but the footprint from memory of that LED light is only something like 3 foot x 3 foot. But it will be less heat than using a HID light

I am a believer that LEDs can hold up to HPS/HID lights, especially with the cree cxa3070 cobs or the vero cobs, most of these builds can be found here on Roll it up, several have done tents using leds and hps side by side grows, and sometimes the LEDs out perform the bulbs, but this can sure spark some debate among people, I prefer the lower heat, the lower electricity of Led's and of course the LONNNNNNNNNNNG life span of the led's, over the course of time replacing bulbs and burnt out ballast can ad up to a higher cost in the long run, but they both work and they both will yeild you something to smoke, and that is a good thing in the end, I do like the mars hydro gen II lights, and I have seen some sweet grows on here from people using them,

Don't listen to anyone who bashes mars hydro LEDs. I will tell u from experience your bill will be cut almost in half and my bud is a lot more dense than it ever was under HPS. I harvested 36 ounces of very dense bud off of 6 plants which were only 38 inches tall.

Are you planning to get a bigger grow space in the foreseeable future?

There will be no heat from a 250 watt hps with a digital ballast (magnetic ones put out heat themselves) and a cool tube and reflector.. your plants can be within an inch or two of the light and not burn .. you could pull a 6/8 oz in that 2x2x4 area. Scrog or top and train your plants to make a even canopy of budsites . Avoid sativas at all cost... Four feet of very space ain't Shit. I would only grow a plant or two in there

Yeah I ended up getting a 240w light house led. I did two plants one I got an ounce of and I'm still waiting to cut the next one. I lst for an even canopy I just with I could get a better yield from my diy box. I'm going to try a sog once this plant is done and see if I can get better yield that way.

I got it after i started this thread. I kinda like the led. What's the big deal with hps? If you can give me a solid argument I might think about it

I'll give you a solid argument. You got a shitty LED that won't perform as well as HPS. It will produce MORE heat, and less light. The buds will come out airy and yield poorly.

Not only will you get piss poor results, others will blame it on "LED" rather than your stupidity. Your decision to pick a known flop makes it hard for others to find the ones who are actually succeeding with LEDs. For that reason, I ask that you do not post a journal...
