Not too bad with just the 700 sailors. When the 2000 Marines came aboard it was another matter. But after a month or two of nothing but eat, sleep and stand watch, you kind of ignore everything that isn't essential. The only time weather had any effect on me was in Naples. We were too big to get to the peer, so we anchored out in the bay and went ashore in Mike boats. That night the wind came up and we couldn't back to the ship. After 2-3 hours of freezing our ass off on the shore, we got to spend the night on the mess deck of a ship tied to the peer. {so maybe I have been on a Tin Can after all}I've been through 3 typhoons so I can definitely attest to that my friend
