This looks good, but my experience has been that 4"/10cm squares work better for weaving the plants and reaching thru. This after starting with 2"/5cm and also trying 3".

I like your idea, and here's why; once you start nosing about the 'hydro' industry, you'll find out very quickly that it's all sewn up by just a very few distributors, who have mutually collusive anticompetitive agreements. You can't sell anything from a 'normal' nursery supplier or they'll drop you- they hate the competition. Why?Well done mate loving it lol. I'm off to a meeting with banks 'new' business manager! I'm gonna try open a nursery supplies shop and get some of my old contacts in the horticultural industry to sort me out with some of their best efforts. I worked for YARA here in York for many years, soil analysis and crop disease management etc so I have some good contacts... and to be fair although I aren't a business minded guy I ain't thick either! Any advice happily taken on board guys, from anyone!
There's a lovely little unit next to a really badly run 'dirty' hydro shop I found, its cheap rent etc so maybe I could sell some seeds too? Plus a few clones from under the counter lol
Yesterday bank girl said opening a little nursery supplies next door to one of them 'hydroponics grow shops' might be a bit risky, what if people stay away because of all the lowlifes buying drugs n stuff from them... jeeeez what a life these people have eh
Check the nutrient prices. OUTLANDISH, considering they're the very same nutes in the garden shop! Gotta protect those margins!
Now, look at the equipment prices. I've found so many places where these same distributors simply grab a widely available component, rebrand it and then sell it thru the 'hydro shop' network for three times the cost! Example; the 'HydroGen' water cooled CO² burner. It's also known as a battery ignited tankless water heater... with a sexy name, a spot of paint and a markup the High Street would be proud of!
Do ignore the silly girl at the bank- after checking her fingernails. If they're clean, her opinion is worth shit. If they're dirty, well, dig deeper- she's a gardener herself and you could ask why she hates the hydro shop so much. I always try to check people's fingernails, they tell me a lot about them. A tip I picked up from another old Brit- one Sherlock Holmes.

You wouldn't think so looking at it, but overly small squares end up being more of a barrier than a trellis. I found out the hard way!

I'm sure he said he worked for em in York I was working in Pocklington in York, it's a chemical company and they do soil analysis and make soil special for farmer's and what they grow. Very good place to work best company I ever worked for was gonna go back after crimbo break but my disks had enuff lol.

That table is way out! If I was in UK I'd look and ask for size 8 (EU 42). They stopped doing half sizes in the UK!Thats coz 41 is a euro size, over here its sizes 1-14 etc
Never over here I'd ask for size 8, they'd give me a US Size!. I find EU sizing more accurate.
Coming from the UK and working eigths, a, oz and b's I can promise you that metric is easier also. We talk in 50,100,500,kg etc.

Evening all! Had a fun afternoon in my man cave and made another grow space in there for my little autos I have. So I got a base unit left over from our kitchen, put in a couple of E27 fittings and it was built! 
I've insulated round the outside of the unit to try and keep as much heat in as possible (man cave outside) I can remove the shelf as they get bigger not expecting much from these if anything. I'd be suprised if they last the night with how cold it gets outside at night... I'll be leaving the light on 24/0 cause I don't have a spare timer.

If you're worried about them being cold then it's best you leave the lights on 24/7.
Might I suggest bringing that CFL on the left down even closer to the seedling? They like lots and lots of light, even when they're pretty small; you just can't let them dry out.

The top soil on one looks a little dry but it's damp underneath I can't bring the lights down as there fixed to the top but I can raise the plants up I have a couple of old computer cases laying around so I'm gonna get them chopped up and put in the back to reflect light. If I feel brave ill have a go at making a rig for the lights.

Light from CFL sources is only good for a matter of a few inches from the lamp itself.
Another thing you could do is find two of those screw in lamp bulb splitters; it screws into one lamp socket and makes two at angles to each other. You could thus screw an additional pair of CFLs on such a rig at very little expense.
