The cable guy says my grow is messing with the internet?

So this cable guy was outside my house and said there was a lot of "noise" in the system and its coming from my house. He wanted to come in and look at our modems. I said no at first, but then went inside and moved my plants to a safe area where he wont see them and turned off the 6" inline and 400 watt grow light. I let him in and he finds nothing wrong. He radios his buddy and the buddy says the "noise" is gone.

He leaves and I plug everything back in. A few minutes later he knocks again saying the "noise" in the area is back. I told him to hold on and I go unplug it all again. He says its gone again. At this point I'm worried and he says whatever I am turning off and on is whats messing with internet.

So being my paranoid self, after he leaves I send all 5 of my babies down the garbage disposal. I'm sure he know "something" was going on by how I would not let him into one area and refused to elaborate on what it was I was turning off and on; and you know his buddy will hear the story, his supervisor will hear his story, and it will be documented in my account.

SO, do you think I made the right call by bailing? I'm not losing my kids and doing 6 months minimum for a plant.

ALSO, has anyone heard of anything like this? The guy said maybe the outlet was wired wrong in the wall and the electricity im using is causing "noise" in surrounding neighborhood.

thats crazy you could have put them out side some were tho you still would need to explain the 400 watt light tho..........if i hads kid i would have prolly done the same shit better safe than sorry

Holy Crap!!!! I would have dumped them too!!!!! As a kid we had a in window AC unit that was huge. when it was on the cable would get alittle fuzzy and lights would dim but that was 15 or so years ago.

HAHA ... Yes, I'm sure that was somewhat suspicious. I doubt a cable guy cares to tip off the cops on a grow tho. I've smoked out cable,dish guys, a guy installing my water softener, granite fabricator, moving guys, ... They all smoke. Some actually have some bad drug habits. But yes, just cuz they could be cool with it doesn't mean they would keep their mouth shut and word of mouth end up screwing you over. Better safe than sorry.

Do you not have a medical program in your state where you can get a card and legally grow? That's the way to go. Breaking the law is not worth it. Although it's BS in the first place that cannabis cultivation & use is considered criminal activity. Fucking lawmakers!

Def the right call man. I dont have kids but, if I did I would of def got rid of them too. I prob wouldnt of even had them in the house since my kids wouldnt be worth loosing over a couple weeds (fucked up country we live in "Land Of The Free" free to sit in jail). One thing I do know is my partner in crime is always on the watch & parinoided out all the time about shit like that happening. I know a couple different people that work/worked in the local gas,electric & water companies and Ive heard stories from them all about finding grows out in the middle of the woods, grows in houses, grows outside houses and even someone growing in the towns main waterfront park, about a block from the police station and 45' from half the churches in town.

Oh damn, well that could be the answer then, my ballast is mounted on my wall with a hook. Any idea how far, if at all, I can move it to avoid the same issue(gonna let the wife use it for tomatoes and chillis now)?

It doesn't matter that you're healthy ... You can still get a card

All you have to do is goto your Primary Care Physician and complain you are in pain. He/She will ask where, when it hurts (constant, come/go, ...), pain level 1-10, all this stuff... Make something up. Say your back is killing you, you feel it's a trigger point and the fact that trigger points are connected to others all throughout your neck & back, say it's starting to get worse and effect other areas. You could even goto the extent of "pain induced insomnia" and say the worse it gets, the less sleep you're getting. Blah blah, ... While I really do have severe back pain, I basically did my two required appts spaced 30 days out of eachother and then forwarded my records for approval. IDK your states laws, but it is prob similar, if not easier, as my state is kind of a pain in the ass.

Def go for your card tho if you're gonna gro, esp if you have kids. The legal risk of doing it without is not worth it and gives honest cannabis users who really need it for medical purposes a bad name. Unfortunetly that's the social perception of it these days, until we get some more laws passed over the next few years and legalize what I believe to be a very SACRED plant that carries history back thru our ancestors, even to the days well Before Christ. =)

Sounds like you had some dick cable guys either fucking with you or not knowing what they're doing. The most your digital ballast could do is some radio interference. I could only see that messing up radio music and possibly WIFI. I can't see a ballast or two messing with a whole building or block of buildings internet.
