if your running a "wet" kit it adds fuel and nitrous into the intake at the same time. if your bottles closed and you try and use it, it will still add the fuel but not the nitrous. so the engine goes rich and bogs down. if your running a "dry" kit your just shooting nitrous through the intake and have to either spray through the MAF if it has one so it knows to add more fuel or you have to tune your ECU to add extra fuel when the nitrous is engaged. if you were spraying through a MAF and your bottle was closed nothing at all would change. if your bottle was closed and the ECU was tuned for it, it would go rich like with the "wet" kit. its very rare to actually tune the ECU to automatically add fuel for a nitrous application. usually a controller is used like we used and then most likely nothing at all would happen if the bottle was closed.

If you leave the bottle off, the fuel solenoid is still firing extra fuel to engine, therfore you get an extremely rich mixture.

my first grand prix mr2 was with the v10s and omfg, such a magical sound.. it was at montreal, and i took a train to the isle, and as soon as i stepped off the train, and long before i could ever see a car, i heard this bansee wail screaming from the circuit.. it was amazing... when they came off throttle, it was a big whiff, almost sounded like they were breaking the sound barrier simply by coming off the long pedal... beyond epic.. i was sold that very second.. i have since seen i think three other grand prix with the v8s, and they still sounded nice too, they weren't the 10 bangers, but still 200 million times better then these new units..
the promoter of the first race of the season is thinking of suing f1 because the cars sound so shite, i think it's funny as hell because i can't stand these new pos personally..
Late reply, but I was thinking they should raise the revs a bit for next year or even 2016.

fuck yeah it's too low, and pretty much on the mercs are running anywhere near 15k rpm, all the other teams are doing tons of short shifting, it's just a huge, bad joke imo.
It is really low. I heard that, the mercs are the only ones not short shifting because the renault's and ferrari's wouldn't last. They're going to have to do something, it doesn't seem like the complains aren't going to stop.

and i'm one of the one's bitching the most, lol.. idk, then you get people who say, well, if you don't like the sound, don't watch, like really? that's your answer, don't watch? to me, the sound was such an important part of the racing, and now they just sound like poo.. they don't even same fast looking at them, and don't even get me started on the fuel restrictions..
i understand things progress over the years, but imo, progress shoudn't come at such an extreme cost..

I don't get why people say that honestly, you can't expect everyone to like every change, and MOST don't like the new sound. The changes were too many and too extreme. I'm not a fan of the current sound, but at the same time if they didn't make changes it would be another year of Vettel/RB domination which was pretty damn boring. I think by mid season the cars will be just as fast as they were last year. Sound unfortunately will not change. I was rather partial to the angry swarm of bees noise. Now it's like, I don't even know what it's like. It just sucks.

i got a bad feeling that rbr and vettel might even take the wdc this year.. of course the mercs have the edge atm, but in winter testing, the rb's were six seconds off of the pace. six friggin seconds, that's crazy, and now, 2 races in and vettel already got outside pole.. of course the rain helped, but still, not looking good for the rest of the field imo..

i'm just not a fan of hybrid technology, hate it in road cars, and sure as shit don't like it in f1.. i agree fossil fuels need to go, but idk, battery and electric just don't seem like the way to do it imvho.. i'm not looking forward to 5 years time when the cars are all electric and the only noise they'll make is the friction of the tires on the road surfaces, and they'll be driverless.. just sucks imo, and i don't see any quick fix, and these motors are hey to stay for i think 5 years at least.. hopefully, when they start losing fans and race attendances go way down, they'll do something about it.. i know bernie is hating it..

umm, on a side note, did you see kimi just said he's going to retire after he's done with ferrari? i know he's got a contract for this year with an option for next, but i can honestly see this being his swan song.

If F1 ever goes all electric the sport could die. That would be a horrible, horrible decision. I'm not a fan of Hybrid technology either but it's good to see a change. I'd rather them keep the v6 turbo and ditch the energy recovery crap. No I didn't hear about Kimi, but it's not surprising really.

lol hey the engines may only be running 15k rpm but those turbos are running like 150k rpm you guys should love it :p

That's really nothing special for a turbo. The turbo on my car does ~170k, but it's like an ant compared to the size of the new F1 turbos. IMO "minor" changes like a higher rev limit and no fuel limit would really silence a lot of critics of the new power units.

how about no limits on anything! run what you brung is how i like to race :D
sounds like the can / am series drolove, which everyone knows was probably the greatest series in motorsport, ever.. idk why formula one has gotten away from ingenuity and now each car has to fit into the same x, y, and z axis, and thinking outside of the box gets frowned upon.. no longer will we ever see such creations as the six wheeled tyrell, or the fan car, or the side skirted lotus, nope, now it's basically 22 identical cars, all with different liveries, and that's a shame imvho..
