I think I went a day early since it smelled nicer when it was hanging. Going to go a little longer hanging time on the bottom part to see if it will make a difference. Thanks again for all your help and advice. I will be starting a new grow thread with my newly sprouted seeds. ;-);-)

The smell always goes away for a bit while cutting. With time and burping it will come back.

Thanks Rusher. At first I did not think I could pull it off, reading all the problems people encountered was daunting. This forum made it very possible and I totally appreciate smoking my own homegrown, pesticide free, dried and cured properly. Now that I have a sifter I can make my own hash too. I am so tired of LP and BM pot. The feeling of independence is truly freeing.

Thanks Rusher. Yes smoking your own buds is not only rewarding, it is safer since you do not have to worry about what some other grower put on the plant. It is clean, fresh and considerably cheaper.... well for some of us anyway.

Next round should work on getting less stretch and stronger stems. Might have to get tough on those girls and slap 'em around a little. Seriously. Smacking them around when they are little toughens them up and some silica doesn't hurt either. More light is key tho.

Thanx OldMedUser. I have a new light, Mars 300 LED, and my new fan arrived today. I am going to create a whirlwind in the new grow tent. The plants in Round 2 are much shorter, stronger stalks and tighter nodes. The plants in Round 1 were string beans, since they had no topping nor did I FIM any of them.

Greetings, I'll dry for 5-15 days depending. I jar when the rH hits and holds @60 in non airtight containers. Smell never leaves. 68% and over in jars, smell changes to a green for a few days and has me paranoid.

You'll be fine. :-)

Thanks Cx2H. I moved a storage cabinet from the basement to the upstairs grow room for the purpose of hanging and drying in a more consistent and controllable environment. I had to do it piece by piece and it took all day, but now it is done and ready for harvest, someday soon hopefully. I received a new hygrometer today but I need to work on a well sealed container to do a reasonably accurate test. Your advise is always appreciated.

I keep checking with all my magnifiers, one is 65X, but nary a sign of any amber trichs. One of the plants has buds with almost no white hairs left, they are mostly orange, and the buds a looking super tight. I was wondering, once I start to see amber does it ALL change fairly quickly or is that process take weeks longer?

As soon as I see amber, if ever, I chop. I've tried waiting for amber but it always takes weeks after I figure it's done before amber shows at all. Even now some of my plants are past de and no amber. You'd figure that a 1000W HPS would get them going amber quicker but nope.

If you do start seeing many amber trichs then it's up to you to decide how much THC you want to give up to amber so it can become CBN. I chop when almost all the hairs have gone red and at least 50% of the trichs are cloudy. Trichs continue to age and degrade after the plants are harvested too.

Also make sure that the trichs all have balls on top. I've been ready to crop a plant and when I looked real close half the trichs had no balls and it took another two weeks for most of the rest to fill out.

With all that pot you're going to grow you'll need help cropping. Want to buy a trimmer for half price? :)

Omg, yeah forgot to warn him about processing and time involved. I still don't like trimming for days...

I did see some for sure but that was not where my focus was, so I will look again.

With only 4 plants left in flower I do not imagine trimming will be much of a problem. On that note, my wife bought a pair of trimming scissors. I thought she meant to trim the leaves form the bud, but she was only thinking of trimming the buds from the plant. I have read where some people trim the small leaves from the bud, but sounds like a lot of work, and I do not even know what I am going to do with it yet. If it is only mediocre I will add it to my collection of trim and outdoor until I have enough to make some oil.

Honestly I was going for put you to sleep amber last time, prolonged it by 3 weeks to get what I was looking for. Fed them 0-2-3 last 10 days and that brought mine out. If I had to guess on days was 13 weeks on a 10. I don't count days anymore.

If it's a bushy plant I'll pull big fans last 10 days- 2 weeks. The rest is saved for the trim box and my byproduct experiments.

@zoic congrats on a good grow so far. I'm on the tight side myself, so I can respect a frugal grower. I've never used lights for weed, other than to veg my spring crop. But I do use CFL's for starting veggies. I made a 12 light hood with a section of duct, pigtail sockets, splitters, all thread, nuts, washers and a bit of chain. Here is the YT video that I used as a guide.


You can almost always pick up free pots at nurseries. Many farmers will give you cow or horse manure. Mushroom compost is super cheap. And when you have to buy soil, look for bags that have been torn and are taped back. I get them for as much as half off.

Also, there is no charge for using sunlight.
