hello lacy! it's a pleasure to meet you. (*curtsey*)
now that the politeness is out of the way...
haha
dude i need to vent.
topic: interracial dating.
(*lights a cigarette*)
ok.
so im brazilian, mulatta, mixed with mostly african and native american, but there's some portuguese in there. in america, i would be classified as black, because most americans are just conditioned that way. im open to dating any race or color, but i find that most people here arent. it was a major culture shock to come here and see most people dating a person of there own race...
anyways, like i said im open to any race or whatever...but my problem is finding people oif a like mind. gah...someone sees me walking with a guy on my arm, he happens to be white, all hell breaks loose. i know america has made great strides as far as eliminating slavery, segregation, and other hideous laws...but "we" still have a long way to go before we can proudly claim to be a "melting pot"...
i'm not into african-american culture at all, so most of the guys im interested in...aren't black...i mean dude, metallica is my favorite brand, i like philosophy, and i plan on having a nice career after i finish college.
i am in no way racist, but let's face it: many blacks aren't doing anything with there lives, we're on very different paths, and i eventually want someone who wants the same things.
(*sigh*)
idk what im saying, i just needed to talk out loud haha
sooo i have a question mainly for the guys: is there something wrong with "people like me" that is a barrier as far as relationship potential is concerned?
i hope ya'll dont take this the wrong way, but it needed to be said.
