Quick Question,
What do I need to do so I can clone with just some rockwool and no cloning gel? Ive seen a tutorial with just water and a green house type container...

Right now i have two cubes in RO pH adjusted water with a small amount of grow nutes as well. Was going to take two clippings later and place them in the cubes. Is this destined for failure? I'm going to be placing her in flower real soon and wanted to take a clone or two before doing so.

I dont want to buy the cloning gel right now.

You could put a clone in a cup of water and change the water every day.... Eventually it will root... Why are you so against cloning gel... It works

You'll have to place your cuttings in some sort of humidity dome. And there is no reason to soak the rockwool cubes. Just a quick five second dip works. And don't squeeze the cubes.

Not against it.... And i know it does. Just don't want to order it online, but I think i've seen something at wally world, i may stop by today and see if it was still there...

What i like to do is learn the old time ways. I want to know how I can do it without buying gels and such. Time isn't much of an issue, but i want to put her in flower soon.

Ook, well the cubes are currently soaking..... Ive germed in the cubes before, soaked, gave three nice shakes to get the extra out, didnt not squeeze, and that worked. Was thinking maybe it would work with clones too.

You can use fresh cut Aloe as an organic clone gel alternative. I have a little Aloe plant in my kitchen for when the time comes and it's big enough to start clipping leaves.

Also some willow. Get a branch and cut it up and soak the pieces in water and used the willow water, and add the aloe as well. Home Depot has something called bonetone rooting powder and it's pretty decent, I'm using it now and I've had sucess. It was about 6 dollars, but I haven't seen anything at Walmart, but I am a waiting the opening of the new lawn and garden at my new super store,

If you have any type of Willow tree (there's many, many types not just Weeping Willows) take a couple first-year growth cuttings from the tips of the branches. Make sure they're light green and flexible. You don't want anything that already has any kind of bark layer growing. Soak or boil those branch tips and use the water to drench your grow media of choice. I've used just the water in a dark container and some kind of dome over the clone for about 5-7 days for roots. Willow has a naturally-occurring hormone that is very similar to the hormones needed for rooting, it works. Try a google search on the topic, there's plenty to read.

These are the answers I was looking for!! I know the new gen ways work wonders. But I love hearing and learning the ways of Olde. lol. Im going to look into the aloe, and willow. Being it winter here, I can get fresh aloe from some stores. But willow, not too sure about. Ill also look into that powder Home Depot sells. Thank you!!

Yea a few years ago, I had an experiment, and i want to say that I remember seeing a little container of clone gel, right next to the SuperTHRIVE b/s

The powder that Home Depot (and other nurseries) sell is very good. It's by Green Light and is like 5 bucks a bottle. I no longer buy expensive gels.

Personally I soak my cubes in 5.5 water overnight (convenience mostly) flick some of the water out, not crushing as was said above. Cut, dip, tap off excess powder and place in cube. Place cubes in dome and 7 - 10 days later roots on 100% of my clones. IMO the most important factor in cloning is having a healthy mom. After that it's the environment in the clone box.

Taping off excess powder is super important. It is the difference of 50& 100 percent success and 10 vs. 20 days. the cheap powder works great

Im going to look into this powder... Tap off excess powder? So I would just dip the cutting into the powder itself? No mixing needed or anything like that? Sorry for the questions, im sure the container will fill me in when i pick it up.

I cant seem to find it on the HD website. Your positive they carry it? I guess it wont hurt to stop by anyways, always find myself picking up more cfl's or random shit i think i need at the time, but really dont.

Cut dip in water dip in powder tap on edge of something to get excess off put in medium

I have this tiny glass aquarium with glass lid i use as a green house. Marineland is the mfg. So ill be using that.

im almost always 100% with my cheap diy aerocloner bucket. Never dip em in anything just a lil clearrez once in a while to keep things clean

Just picked up the Rooting Powder from Home Depot. Gonna give it a try in a couple hours. Was thinking of placing her in flower starting tomorrow? I plan on snipping two clones. Is that a bad idea? I mean, taking the clones then the next day start the flower cycle? Will there be any shock?
