The COB Redemption Grow

Ladies and Gentlemans let me introduce you to the COB redemption grow.

But first a brief description of what did bring me to it !

It's been quite some time now that I actively follow this LED enthusiats community on riu and I eventually came to build a 150w pannel made of 4 CXA 3070AB for my 2,6x2,6x5ft tent. Today I'm pretty sad and almost ashamed because I haven't find a way to make something positive out of this piece of diy love, besides a successful building.

In fact, it's nothing about the pannel itself: it works and has worked flawlessly since the day I played God and switched the light on for the first time and thanks to all the knowledge I've been able to gather here. Builduing
such a thing is not rocket science but you guys have been of a great help and inspiration and that's how and why the beast went to life so smoothly.

No it's not about that, it's about harvest results that I'm so ashamed of. I mean this thing clearly challenged my grower skills even though I'm more an outdoor kind of dude that an indoor one. I've ruined 2 sessions so far, the outcome was first nearly unexisting and then really poor. Past some point my plants have clearly ''burned'' and I know I'm mostly to blame for that. Too long adaptation to the babies new water need with LED light, wrong (or bad, as you wish) soil, too intensive lighting against phase of growth, ph variation, too much/too less nutes, stroboscopic light funk during sleep time (kidding!) ... those mistakes ... you name them, I've made them like a God damn rookie.

Now, I always keep in mind that the minute I stop making mistakes is the minute I stop learning so I'm paradoxically glad because I've learned A LOT
So here I am, ready to start a new grow and keep on improving, but I think I need you guys again. Not that I don't have the required patience and perseverance (ego says I got plenty) to make this shit work by myself but what I don't have at the moment is fruity smelly tasty healthy good buds and damn man I need that shit like fuck !!!

So in order to more abundantly reap what I sow, offer to my body and mind some sacred blessing and don't screw it up this time I'll finally start a grow diary and beg for some help and forgiveness, once more, like a nun in a gang bang.

For those who still read these lines, the brave and humble ones, here is the exhaustive list of my holy tools for this session:

Genetics:
TGA Pennywise 10 regular seeds
Philosopher Seeds Sweet Love one seed

Lighting:
4x CXA3070AB 3000k pannel @1050ma (150w), passively cooled and dimmable
T5 neons 100w of cold white

Air:
RVK 350 with dimmer
clip fan for air circulation
5'' PC intake fan

Medium and nutes:
Plagron All-mix and/or Plagron Royal Mix and/or Plagron Light Mix
Biocanna Bio Vega
Biocanna Bio Flores
No mercy liquid bat guano
Nettle manure (nettle powder)
Advanced Nutrients roots stimulators (Piranha, Voodoo Juice, Tarantula)
Epsom salt

Pots:
0,8 and 1,3galon Air Pots

Miscellanous: citric acid and digital p.h meter, p.h 7.7 tap water, various organic insect and mold killers (neem oil, sodium bicarbonate for powdery mildew ...)

Do you guys think I'm on my way to COB redemption with this ?

I think I found were your problem come from...and for me it is clear!
The size of your pot...try regular 3gl plastic pot...your 1.3gl for vegg and the 3gl for bloom and no problems anymore!
If you can get plagron batmix for bloom with 25% coco with trichoderma it will be great for the taste!

14 weeks with 1.3gl!!!!
If you put 16 plants why not but it is a pro job...a see of green with a lots of plants is a huge job and you need to know your nutes very well and avoid vegg!

Thanks for the advice ! So you think the size of the pot can be (one of the) the problem ... basically what you're saying is that past some point they will lack some nutes cause the pot is too small and then it's hard to keep up with liquid fertilizers ?

I have tried the plagron bat mix for my first session under these leds because that's the one I like for outdoor grow too. But I felt it was a really dense soil reatining a lot of water ... so kind of hard not to overwater with it, epsecially under leds where plant's transpiration is reduced to its minimum ... I also felt it was burning my plant because of too high EC ? But to be honnest I believe this first grow got screwed because of a sum of different mistakes ...

Are you using bat mix too ? For veg and flower ? Are all your genetics liking it under Cree COBS ? And what's your reason behind adding 25% coco ?

I use canna bio terra + 20% coco with trichoderma + 20% ewc for vegg and batmix + coco 25/30% + ewc 25/30% + perlite and vermiculite 5/10%(plus some batguano bloom end week 2 in top dressing and a bit of fresh ewc) and tap water + molasses 1/week!
And yes I am SURE it is were your problem come from!...just buy a few 3gl or any plastic container like the ones to put under beds...
How many plant do you grow in your box usually?
So far all genetics are ok!
And for the coco in the batmix you almost answer it...to aerate the soil...make it softer (less npk)...and it give weed a very nice taste! And it allow me with the batguano bloom in week 2 to only add water...
If you go this way the only error you can do is over watering...nothing else!

Ok I get what you mean and when I see your mix for flower it confirms why my fully loaded Batmix pots were hard to manage and not good for the plants ... I'm used to grow with it outdoor and the results are always nice but conditions are completely different so you can't really copy/paste this working recipee indoor ... that's the main mistake I've made I guess ... Your medium has only 30% of batmix ! Way less dense and much lower EC ... I think I'm gonna give it a try so now I have to gather the coco, ewc and bigger air pots !

Thing is, the idea behind smaller pots was growing several genetics for pheno hunt purpose ... also now I'll start with regular seeds ... 10 of them so I just can't put them all in 3gal pots since my tent is only 2,6x2,6x5ft. Will have to figure it out I guess !

I'm also curious about light intensity and height. Are you fully vegging under the Cree babies ? What are your lighting conditions ?

And GTA man ... San Andreas was definitely one of the most fun version but I have to say I like them all ... and the V is one hell of a masterpiece ! So many good ideas and a lot of work behind it ! To me that's the most achieved video game that I've ever played

If I understood correctly you were growing in straight bat guano? That would be your issue for sure. Lil Jacob hit the nail on the head there. Pop your seeds in beer cups. Wait until their root bound then move to your 1gals. Then a week before flower put them in 3gal to finish. After using peat for a while and switching this grow to coco I don't think I would ever use peat again. Maybe use coco ammend with 20 ewc for your 1 gal and your canna bio with that. Then when you transplant into 3gal do the same thing with ewc and 5% guano. Flip them then at week 2 topdress with more guano and continue to feed your canna bio. That would be my plan.

• I knew littlejacob sounded familiar. Gta the best game around. The newer ones were amazing but I loved San Andreas.

Also one thing that really turned my grows up a notch. Instead of spending a fortune on AN biologicals look for a product called Recharge. It's organic has everything all three advanced products have plus humic Fulvic kelp and molasses. Way cheaper easier to use and works better imo then the advanced stuff. It's made by real growers. Also check out the dude grows show on iTunes or basically anywhere with podcasts. A wealth of knowledge on that show and where I picked up on the recharge. Good stuff check it out

I cry all the time when I see availability of products and prices in US...20% vat is a real pita! (Like the hunger game guy...lol!)
I need to come with empty cases next time...I mean more empty cases...!

And batmix is a Plagron's soilbag full of good things...under hps it is ok even without coco/ewc but with cob no!
It is a bit strong for cob...that's why I add coco! Ewc for bio life and perlite vermiculite for aeration and more batguano for a better bloom....molasses to feed soil life and I am not sure but maybe for taste too!?!
The taste is different on strain I really know...cheese...it is like the same but sweeter and very tasty...I am so surprising...in a good way!
I want to go no-till...reuse my soil...but I guess I will need bigger container than 3gl because there is so much roots in it...I wasn't able to pull out the main root...I had to use a knife!

As LJ explained I wasn't using straight bat guano but the soil I had was loaded with some and had a high EC and was too compact for a healthy grow under cobs.

Will defenitely follow your advices and add quite some coco and ewc to my mix. Will not top dress with bat guano though as I only have it in liquid form ... Will be good to use it from week 3 to 5 I guess.

Also this Recharger product looks dope man, nice tip ! I don't like AN that much, they're just too expensive and their products aren't always organic so I just buy the roots stimulators they have cause they perform well but thanks to you I'll probably stop doing so now.

Dude this product is available on amazon and they can deliver it to EU for 45euros all included (taxes as well it seems) !

I might buy it together with a friend and give it a try ... If it works well then it would be a good and less expensive substitute to the AN stuff I use.

I think I'm about to pop 4 feminized seeds instead of the 10 regular pennywise I wanted to so I can do what you guys recommend and grow this in much larger pots ! We'll check this evening what I have on stock in my refrigerator.

Few years ago...I guess 3...I went into my growshop (the one I use to go...) and like 80% of nutes wasn't available atm...French government said it wasn't real organic nutes...now it is very controlled so the one available in France should be really organic!
I think I am going to buy some underbed plastic boxes to grow in...and no holes at the bottom should be better for organics
I try medical seed atm...2 strains...one I know to be able to compare...White Widow and one I do not know...Mendocino purple kush!
Very nice grow and color...look very stable...3 of each in the 4*4 with a cheese cut a king kong and a Critical jack!....in the 3.5*3.5 it will be the same cheese cut and 3 old seeds I had from a sannie jackX double strawberry diesel...I let it a chance!

I feel you for the organic nutes, it's always better to be strict on this. I just hope the french government was sincere and not trying to rule some of the companies they arent too much ''friends with'' out of the business and claim they do it for the people ... oh boy ... anyway do you have pics of your grows online ?
Cause I'm following you buddy ! And I'm close to put my hands on ewc, coco, soil and bigger pots ... so when things go wrong, I hope you understand you'll be the only one responsible here

Kidding aside, I only have 2 feminized seeds atm, sweet love and nyc diesel and I need 4 so I'll have to get 2 more asap and this will delay the official launch time of the grow ... by a week/10 days or so ... let's see ... you guys can play Rocket League in the meantime right ? Cause I'll fucking do !!!

Tu peux checker ton profile j'ai probablement quelque chose pour toi a ce sujet

So I'm about to do some shopping and when it comes to pots, I could easily pick the followings up:
1 gal square pots
1,5 gal square pots
3,2 gal square pots
2,6 gal Air pots
4 gal Air pots

And I already have 0,8 and 1,3gal Air Pots.

So I'm not too sure of what's the best option here.
I'd like to keep on with Air pots as I feel they're great but the available sizes may not really suit my needs according to what you guys have suggested earlier. 4gal looks nice but probably overkill ? The 2,6 gal ones could be a little too small right ? Even though this is not the optimal size I guess they could make it. It won't be impossible to repot from 1,5gal square pot to this but I'm afraid It will be a bit tricky ... so if I choose this size for my flowering babies I'll most likely have to veg in the 1gal square pots ... too small for 3 weeks veg under blasting CXAs ?

Another possibility would be using square pots only, 1,5gal for veg then 3,2gal for flower.

Or I could also do the whole cycle with air pots but then again I'm not too sure about the repotting feasibility from 1gal air pot to 2,6gal or 4gal ...

If someone's got experience with this process or any thoughts on all this or if you feel I'm a stupid noob overthinking this ... please hit me with your wisdom again
