I really don't think you could have it more backwards. First off, you assume there is no such thing as a wealthy liberal. Nice to meet you. That answers that one. Second, you think I await a nanny state run by big brother? I want the exact opposite. I want limited government run only by the guide of the constitution. Two candidates provided that, Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul. Neither has a chance. And I hate to tell you, the people to blame are the ones with infinite amounts of money and resources, i.e. the media, who already decided who we got to choose from. I want to bring up a point that you addressed. The fact that there are rich people who got there by their own sweat and blood. Let's look at a scenario of identical twins separated at birth:

Twin A:Given to wealthy family
Twin B:Given to poor family

Both work equally hard. Both have equal intelligence and drive. Who do you think will get further in life. Twin A? That's correct. He was born with an advantage. America is not an equal playing field and we can not treat it as such. I can not speak for everyone, but it is not my intention to "shackle" the wealthy for being wealthy. It is my intention to make every wealthy person realize that along the way, they had an advantage, whether it was money from the get-go, or just a very nourishing environment. For me, it was a good family, full of intelligent people, that helped me and motivated me to succeed. I work with people every day who want to think that they pull $200,000 a year because they are just working so freakin hard. Well, they are, but they aren't working any harder than the janitor. It took a lot for me to get to the point I am at, but it took a hell of a lot more for me to understand that not everyone could have done the same, no matter how hard they worked.

my bias is born of betrayal and an innate distrust of those who promise something for nothing. the liberal leadership has become a corrupt joke, ingratiating themselves to every supposedly downtrodden special interest group with empty rhetoric, and their followers nothing more than puling children. they deny the fact that change hurts because pain is not popular and unpopular equals unelected. instead of admitting the fact that success is a painful process they propose handouts and bailouts and programs that do little more than increase the bureaucratic payroll.

on the other hand -

there is something appealing about the honesty of the conservatives when they readily admit that greed is a natural part of the human psyche and it might be used for the greater good. though i mistrust their real aims, i appreciate the fact that they are willing to say "this is gonna hurt".


what it all comes down to is that one should expect more of those who advocate change, because change without purpose is just meaningless movement.

of course there are wealthy liberals, just as there are poor conservatives and any other combination you care to think up. it is not a matter of rich or poor, but of how to go about allowing everyone access to opportunities. the liberal line has become one of enforced wealth redistribution. this does not differentiate between the honest and the corrupt or the foolish and the worthy, it merely takes from those who succeed and give to those who don't. the very idea that government is capable of making the world a fair place (or that they even want to) is naive at best, only the people have that capacity and even if the people really cared it would still be a bit of a crap shoot. now you may be laboring under the assumption that this is a government run by the people,but.....

If the Dems and Repubs could ever get along, and work side by side, instead of always bitching about how one is right and the other is wrong...things might actually get done in the White House and our country probably wouldn't be in the lame ass pickle it is today

Warren Buffet himself has said that he should pay a higher percentage of taxes than his secretary. Why is that? Because he is very aware of the fact that social advantages put him in that position. If he acknowledges that fact, why can't most rich conservatives?

All very true, except for this one "falsehood":mrgreen:. There is nothing false about this group. Their stated intentions and desires are real, and the results, if ever enacted, will be painfully real. This will be when they get their "equality", when the self determined successful achievers are dragged down to the level of the self determined unmotivated dependent underachievers. Then all will be "equal":mrgreen:.
