This is something that Democrats and (sane) Republicans can all agree on....

Fuck the Drug War

"Hey, lets end this war"

I wish that were true. Unfortunately, the Dems and Reps are both in the blood up to their elbows. The only way to peacefully end the drug war is for voters to stop electing drug warriors to Congress and the presidency. That ain't gonna happen, though. Just look at RIU, a bunch of self proclaimed pot heads, even here there is only mild support for ending the drug war.

You know thinking about it, Obama has a very liberal stance on drugs when he went into office. What do you think changed it? What are we not seeing?

Ahh something we can all agree on, the question is why haven't we already?
Well, I am voting for Gary Johnson and against all the incumbents in California where I have a say, that is my small contribution to ending the insanity.

I will leave the Obama/Romney supporters to defend their positions.

In Obama's 1st campaign, marijuana was not that big of an issue due to the ppl that he was running against. Now that Romney is his main competitor Obama has to actually win the votes of hard blooded republicans and many of them do not like marijuana use. His new stance on marijuana is for votes. simple as that.

He is afraid he will lose votes for being too soft so he is playing politics. Politician = liar. Obama is one of my favorite liars though, since a third of the country has MMJ for the first time in decades. Hate him all you want but I call that progress in the right direction.

That's not necessarily true, polls have shown that America is devided down the middle on marijuana democrat and republican alike. He has balls enough to come out on gay rights and his stance on Illegal immigration (which is as divisive as MMJ) why not now?

if the country is in fact split on mj, and I dont disagree, that taking a stance can eliminate as many votes as it gets. Thus no real prize in it, had that been the case People would have rallied around Ron and not Mitt. Besides I dont think it will ever pass through federal system until such times as half or more of the states have oked it. Thus having the backing in Washington.

Texas is a perfect example, if it ever went to vote it would most likely pass, the Gov knows that so he keeps it off any type of public ballot as he would lose most of his money and support if it were passed.

if you eliminate the economic woes during his precidency i think there would have been more focus on the drug war. i think his opposition would have raked him over the coals for fighting the drug war though.

I don't know guys maybe, but we tend to forget some of the best shit comes from down south. He isn't going to win hardcore christian republican's no matter what he does, but he could pull some southern rubes with a pro MMJ stance. We will see, I hope it's a tight race and states like Colorado make or break so we can bring this to a head.
