Frenchy thank you again for your experience. And hanging in with this thread. Ive been reading many articles along with this thread. Some are laced with poor info, others are well worth the read. One in particular is Laurence Cherniaks The Joy of Making and Curing Hashish which is some good reading. Many concepts follow your thread exactly. Pressing, feeling, smelling the reaction
.. just something you have to do by hand .
There is one major difference between the teachings.
LC cures the resin prior to pressing. Where you are rolling out the Cannolis then curing them.
I know that LCs writings are many decades old. But could you tell me why you have chosen to press then cure? (I have a feeling that end product will be very similar, but not having the experience, Im only guessing)
I found an old gram chunk of water extracted resin from some very old trim that had been dry sifted once. I dont know if you could say it was cured, but it had been is a very small jar for about 5 months. I broke off a pinch and started to massage and it reacted much faster than some fresh resin (from the same old material) that I just ran. Like within just a couple of folds and presses between the thumb and forefinger. I then pressed with hot bottle. I flattened and folded 3 times in 15 minutes. I know that it was only a gram not an oz of resin, but the old stuff reacted much quicker than the new. Im hoping you have some insight.
Im thinking that curing resin 1[SUP]st[/SUP] could make pressing easier later????
