The future of COB's vs HID's

He All....I have only posted a couple of times and both times it was in the wrong place, have been trying to start my own journal but I am to new too the membership and have to be involved and conduct myself properly before I
am eligible to start my own journal.....fair enough. I'm not really sure if this is how you start a new thread or discussion but if not I will try again, I am going to post some pictures of my original post and then some pictures from today's update. Feel free to get involved... Loving these COB's The first pictures are of newly transferred
plants and putting in scrog net todays pictures are today's update 1 week later.

well have you ever grown with hid lighting? and if so . what do you think so far?

Great looking plants!!! So what are we doing with vs HID in the title?

yeah i know , but did not really say the size of grow and what type of COB , he has working.im definitely intrigued. with cob lighting systems ,but for now . way out of my budget and to build one yourself . seem to a lil to much for my stoner brain . i see the one vs the other thing in this site a lot . idk if their should be a 1vs the other. its just a plant . that should be enjoyed . by everyone. big money or no money. just try and grow the best of your abilities with the resources that you have. and enjoy life and the love of the plant.. imo

Thanks...just trying to create some conversation mainly...I'm trying to start my own grow journal but am too new a member to get
permission. OK this is for you too 420producer I have 2 8x4 tents the COB's are 1200watt full spectrum with IR draw about 600 true watts from the wall.
HID's have not used before but from research seem pretty expensive to run so your ROI will be returned reasonable quickly with the COBs

I hear what your saying I think people bring up the 1 vs the other to create conversation and maybe relationships with people on the site.
I am just looking for the most economic way to grow good quality goodness I have small scale grows with floro's and good pretty ok result's...but want better.
I have to be a little careful not all countries are receptive to this hobby!

I should have added 1 tent has 2 full spectrum 300 watt LED's for veg and the other tent has 2 x 1200watt COBs

so one COB 1200 in each grow.??? and its able to cover that foot print. nice. what day are those in ? what are your projections per plant? or just i guess per light. ? i do plan to get into them since its the way to go. get one that can daisy chain. and use both types actually 3 types cfl for clones cob veg then hid flower. and faze out the hid. cuz its a bitch to keep cool .

No...just sort of experimenting a bit at the moment... I have 2 x full spectrum 300 watt LED's for Veg and 2 x 1200 watt COB's for flowering..I'm hoping to get 1.2-1.4 grams per
watt for flowering also want to create a perpetual harvest situation so harvest every 2 months. The COB's keep nice and cool so no problem with heat but we are heading into
winter where I am, and cool temperatures may be a bit of an issue.The plants are about 9 weeks old I have been floundering a bit on what sort of method to use SOG, Scrog or just
let them go natural but after some research I think Scrogging is the way to go especially if your limited for space and want to maximize what space you have..the first pictures is
day one of the scrog net being introduced and the later pics are today 1 week on they are fulling the net faster than expected considering day 1 they were transplanted that day.
Also I using this self watering system.

Any pics dabbindylan? What size is your tent or cabinet?

10x6x10 i believe its a shelter logic greenhouse. I got insulated mylar on all sides.

Density is almost exact to hid systems full spectrum makes healthy plants

Led lights are intense tho if u keep them to close they will cause stress n morph plants without heating them

It's a real balancing act for sure.....I don't know if you have seen this but this is a great COB set up of just 850 watts....harvest 1.6kg impressive!!

Nice..ive been experimenting with the led t5 mix heavily

Hey...just an update pictures with first scrog with COBs so far so good... did have an issue with some of the plants I started with some bag seed it had turned out some
of the varieties I had were Ruderalis so in the bin they went did put me behind a bit. I also have a hermie which I will start another thread on because I think that's
how you start to produce your own feminized seeds. The first lot of plants went under the scrog about 3 weeks ago and are filling up nicely the second lot was yesterday
so will leave for 10 days then flip them.Feel free to comment or advise this is my first scrog! Peace

I personally think cob led is the future. I'm still running hid, but I've seen some side by side comparisons and the cob are definitely on par with the equivalent hid. The only issue is that ill need to add heater to the grow room in winter.

But in terms of saving money in the long run. Led is the future. One thing I hate is the purple light!!

I think your right too kiwipaulie....probably more DIY COBs will be my next project seen some really great results from Growmau5 youtube channel and some
of the things he has done with low wattage high yielding. What part of the World are you from? (Kiwi) I don't really care about the colour of what the light emits as low as it produces. I hear you about the heating but it will only be for 4 months of the year and although the COB's don't get real hot there is still heat that comes off them.
