The Goal This Year is Zero Seeds

Last grow was a good challenge. I had my first bout with (multiple) insects and won.
I refined my watering process a bit. Learned a great deal about thermodynamics (I am not joking!) and am currently on my last two 12oz. mason jars of Rassberry Cough.

I have some 2009 seed from that grow that I am going to germ up and get ten seedlings going (figuring I'll take at least 50% loss to males). While these youngin's are coming up, I am converting more of my un-used "space" to a full scale op. The challenge will be environmental's vs. security. My last couple grows were single harvest and easily planned for. Now I want to keep this area going year round but limiting the number of plants per flower as to try and get the most out of my HPS for each single strain that will be passing through. I figure if I restrict to one strain at a time flowering, it's easier to work with and react too. If I have too many strains, I could wind up in the room constantly. The security comes into play as I want to know the plants are okay as well as make sure no one is making un-announced visits without too much physical intervention. I have a lot of reading to do on this site.

I am picking up my misc parts within the next week and the girls food..Between now and then, I have to drop the humidity (de-humid is already running full tilt) and give the whole area a good mold killing/disinfectant wash down.
Figure I'll kick the lamp into gear as well and try and raise the temp a few degrees. It's been un-usually cold in my neck of the woods this year.

One month in..Had a REAL hard time popping my seeds. Yeah, yeah..they were bag and probably some of my own. At any rate, I have three plants underway out of germ'ing twenty seeds.
For one month in on 16/8, they are rooting more than veg'ing. I think I had a light leak from an LED in that room. It has since been covered up. The plants are doing okay so far. The plant on the right in the pic looks to have suffered heat stress early on. I did the "hand check" and all felt fine for me; but then again, I'm not under 600 watts of HPS for sixteen hours; sooo. I added a second fan to get circulation going past the hps and the over head fan seems to be clearing it away. The room is comfy and a little "moist" at 80% humidity. The heat stressed plant seems to be responding well. I'm thinking these plants are low bushy growers since they don't seem to "reach for the sky" as quickly as other plants I have had when I increased the light's height (oops, forgot to mention, raised the lamp by approx twelve inches to avoid un-wanted heat).
In closing, fairly happy so far with my three little one's. They began germination 5/17 and this is how they stand approx four weeks later.

Should have noted a few more things. Two are in three gallon containers. Forward plant is in a temp container. All are in FoxFarms Ocean's soil with approx an inch and a half of clay balls at the bottom of each container to avoid root rot.
Also, I have ten strawberry cough seeds on order and they should be arriving shortly. I'll germ half of them the second they show up!
As for the five bonus seed, not sure yet what they will be.

Strawberry Cough showed up today. Nice job guys! Fat seeds and I'm still chuckling at the "stealth" it came in; nice one.
So, as I said, five are germing now. Will check them out Sat night and check on progress.
The "youngest" is coming along nicely. The two in three gallons are also doing a lot better. I'm thinking maybe they got a shock during transplant? None the less, doing fine.

First five Strawberry Cough "popped", but did nothing. Trying to germ a second set of five with a slightly different manner.
The three plants currently underway are looking exceptionally healthy. Very, Very rich with nitrogen at this point. I could easily flip then into flower at this point.
I am however going to wait and see what these next set of seeds germ'ing do. If the five latest do well, I will LST the original three and bring the Strawberry up along with them.
If these five do nothing, I am going for BIG on the current three and will veg them for as long as I can before flower (based on my grow space, my 600w HPS will handle them nicely.
Either way, on this course, I am set to cover my needs; it's just how the number of plants and how I get there now.

/side note. Will post a pic later, thing I might have a male..Bastard just looks stringy compared to the other two.
/side side note. Different planting this year. For the base of the pot, I lined the entire bottom up about 2.5 inches innside the pot with an "anti-weed" material/canvas lots of folks lay down under mulch. It breathes real well, it's holding in my clay balls that I use to prevent root rot and even though the plants are up off the ground nine inches, it covers the run off spouts which I am hoping will prevent any creepy crawlies trying to make their way into my girls or their late term roots poking out the bottom exposed to said creepy crawlies. Good idea? Dunno yet, only time knows that for me!

One last post before I adjourn for the day. I grow for myself only. My physical grow or it's physical produce never leaves my property. It is never sold nor given away.
I grow for myself because I hate "street" dealers and finding a 100% legit marijuana dealer around my parts is exactly nill. I want nothing to do with illicit dealing.

Being my third grow, it is now "easier" to simply let 'em grow and quit fussing over every little thing they do. I truly wish I had this mindset on my first two grows as I introduced problems by micro-managing.

Oh snap! Checked in on the seeds I started a couple evenings ago, two popped and are doing REALLY well. I will plant them in a couple hours. Awaiting the other three. Looks like I will have some Strawberry after all.

So, the two out of ten seeds are now in peet pots. I am leaving the un-popped last three of Strawberry for a couple more days to see what they will do.
Disappointing I only got two; but am happy I have the Strawberry to try out in a grow.

Aggressive lil fuckers those strawberries are. So, peeped in on the youngins about an hour ago. Kid. you. not. Both being planted with half inch long roots (after germ'ing) LAST EVENING are both out of shell and about one inch in height; BOTH shot a root center line down the peet pot and poking out the bottom (1/8" maybe? Enough it was noticeable).
I figure, why stop them? I (carefully) peeled away the peet and moved them both to half gallon containers in Fox Farm Ocean's and elevated them in my grow room to the same height as the top of the more mature vegging plants..Honestly cannot wait to cheggum tomorrow. Probably not much green, but I bet those roots are taking off like crazy. These girls (hope-hope for two!) might go into 5 gallon containers.

Now onto an embarrassing matter...
As jubilant as I am about these two and their apparent willingness to catch up; it was still only two out of ten. I would much prefer (for obvious reasons) 10/10. And with that I have to correct MYSELF and fess up that I made a mistake. I did not get this batch from Nirvana. I got it from marijuana-seeds.nl. I have purchased from both before; both did just fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.
This go around, I am little dis-appointed and I went to write to "them" about said sorrow. That is when I discovered my mistake.

Apologies to Nirvana. You're still awesome in my book.
