So I have a rather odd question. The short end of it is, for those of you who have used hempy buckets in detail, how often do you water?
The longer story is as follows. I don't have much experience with this type of system, but I have grown a few plants in small cups hempy style, to see if I liked it, and so far I have. So I started a few seedlings in about six 44oz styrophome cups, filled with hydrotron pellets (I know these arn't the favorite medium, but I like them). The cups are about 8.5 inches tall, and I have the whole about 2.25 inches up from the bottom of the cup. My plan was to veg in these cups, then cut out the bottoms and transplant four of them into five gallon buckets, filled with hydrotron pellets in a hempy bucket style. I was watering every two days or so, then trying to space them out, to see how long I could go between waterings, letting the plants tell me when they need water. To date the seedlings are about three weeks old, and it has been a week since I last watered them and they seem rather healthy, is this normal? I remembered reading that they need to be watered about every 2-3 days.
I know alot of factors are involved, such as temp (mine is around 80-82, depending on ambient temps), distance from the light and source (about 20 inches away from a 400w HPS) along with the strain (Nirvana's Blue Mystic) and the plant's size and age. I'm sure there are several other factors involved.
My main goal is to figure out how often everyone is watering, and if going a week without watering is normal, because I don't think it is. I'm not too worried about it, they seem healthy, just getting a pulse as to where I am at in comparison to everyone else. Also, should I expect to maintain this feeding cycle, or should I expect for it to be considerably reduced further on, when the plant gets bigger and begins to flower? I know flowering plants use alot more water, but just trying to get a grip on what's going to happen. Thanks to all who can help.
