The Importance Of Veg Time In Relation To The Triggering Of Flowering

thats what i found,i let them get to 14" high in the .5 starter pots, they got really rootbound but the colas were huge, compared to the ones in the 5 gallon pots, even though they were vegged the same time 7 weeks,i found that the roots in the 5 gallon at harvest never really made it to the outside of the pot, while the ones that went from the starter cubes to two gallon pots one week in flower had a perfect root system.my buddy does not believe that those colas were produced the way they were, and they were sitting on the perimeter of the lights, because i was thinking of moveing them outside.sometimes we forget how big we can grow a plant before it needs transplanting, heck fdd plants look like jail builds, all upper body(bushy plant) with no legs(pots).
Yeah, I'm doing an fdd' jail grow, only a smaller version... and indoors.:peace:

Alright, I have a plant that has been growing since seed sprout for a little over 2 months now. This is bag seed.

She, at least I am believing she is a she as I haven't seen male parts yet....

anywhoo....sitting under 6500K lights, she will when ready, sprout her pistils? Or shall I change to 4100K's and go to 12 12, to induce the pistil/flowering.....

...I am in no hurry to "dress her up" if you will...

Thanks,

yea i placed mine in flower asap as soon as the biggest one was like 12" and the smallest was like 8" week 3 of flowering is now complete and they are now finally showing some nice little baby flowers, i think veg time from seed sprout might hve been 9 days or so and they were still imature i think.

by the way they were 5 greenhouse white widow seeds feminized and all came up female which was pretty cool, my first time trying feminized.

next time im going to take 6 mature clones about 2" - 3 inches tall and flower them right after they root, then im gona hawk the 600watt hps right over the little buggers figure they may end up 12" - 14" inches maybe?

that way my 600watter will only have to penitrate 1 foot with also 8 inches distance from the tops, i seen some pics on here of trimmed potted plants that were like 12" high just chock full of dense but.

I'm not sure of my take on this thread or theory.

There are heavy relations between plant growth potential and its root size and usually its considered 1:1 -

With the introduction of advanced hydroponics ,- theories of hormone balance shifted from being centered around root complex size to roots potential nutrient uptake / fixed amount of time.

Why would the plant measure its roots growing space and how , - how would the plant determine resistance and in what way could it react and with what.

If you look at it from an evolutionary perspective ,- it makes no sense for the plant to add this into its equation. - Marijuana is not originated from pots.

A plant that is kept in 24 hours of light is stuck in vegetation -

A plant does not just "k , time to flower" - In nature it is determined by the most important factor and that is sunlight exposure.

The longer and more downtimes it experiences , - the more build up and "movement" of a specific a FT protein that progressively activates the plants flowering genes , or so new researches suggest.

That is not to say its the sole factor in the equation ,- the plant could have developed a system where flowering is limited till a certain amount of nutrient uptake / fixed amount of time is reached , which would explain flowering time being partially influenced by roots. - It would be beneficial to late sprouting plants as immediate flowering from seed would not be as beneficial -and explains why flowering takes a certain amount of time to initiate for SOG growers who keep it strictly 12/12

I wouldn't know though , - im not a plant <.<

So does this mean a plant with less root space left in pot before going into 12/12 will potentially grow fatter buds quicker?

So is it a bad idea to transplant right before flowering? Would that stack flowering time ?

I had a SAME strain fem seed in soil and pot, 1 plant in .7 gal and 1 plant in 3 gal.
The bigger pot plant vegged alot bigger due to having more root space but the smaller pot showed sex in vegging at around 5~6 weeks into vegging but the bigger pot BARLEY show sex until put in 12/12 at 7+ weeks old maybe few pistils.

Smaller plants already have amber trich and 70% brown hairs at 6+weeks 12/12 now and big plants hairs are all white and trich is still clear. They were both flowered same time.
So this theory had effect on it?

Sick... If all threads were this great it would be an easier task to grow bomb ass ganja! Great conversation. Would love to know more details if anyone carries out any experiments.
