OK so some of you know that I am in the process of a HUGE remodel job on my grow room that wont be ready till like mid february... Because I deal I can't exactly STOP production. So I made a small temorary grow room to try n grow... This is the ONLY other space I have besides the main room so it reall sucks. I'm only able to put 2 incandescent lights in.

Ok, so if you lok at my gallery you can see the temporary room.

I'm not expecting much out of this room because of lack of light and because it's soil Buuuuut I wanna give it a shot (this is like an experiment type grow lol....

So as I stated before I have one sprout and it's pic is in the gallery... I woke up today at 3am and was excited to see what has changed... Well I have two new sprouts that's are almost completely pierced out of the ground... lets just hope they are ALL females.. However knowing my luck and LACK of lighting 9 chances out of 10 I will get a male:'(

I call this journal "The Impossible Grow" because the lack of good lighting and what not... This is mostly entertainment value haha.

Well so far 6 out of 9 seeds have successfully sprouted so far. I'm excited I didn't think more than one would sprout. I added a few more lights in to compensate for the added plants. I also have about 6 seeds in germination. I think there are four or 5 with tails pokin out of the seed... waiting till they get a bit longer before I plant them.

here's a pic of the germinating seeds:

Another to show the one (which looks like its going to sprout too) on the top paper towel

Looks like we are almost in the same spot. I am sprouting and planting too. Sometimes you can lean some cool stuff from these little experiments. Usually not but sometimes that is where new ideas come from.

Yeah you should see mine now. I have 8 plants. 5 an inch and a half tall the rest about a half in tall.
Taller insn't necessarily better, ideally you want to keep the plants short and compact (tight node spacing),but it's good to hear you got something growing there..

Well another update for the journal....

Plants are pretty tall. Having a thin stem problem.... I'm a little worried about it... There's 4 plants about with the same problem... Little worried

what kind of light are you using? cause its definently not close enough but don't throw you plants out!!! don't listen to 420penguin. see i have this problem every time. what you can do is throw your light out if it not floro.
see the thing is floro typically white light floros produce enough of the blue spectrum of light to support the plant up to the budding stage so a shop light with some soft white tubes and high lumen out put (around 2000 ) when keep the electricity bill low and help your plant grow throughout the vegie stage. and to you point of tall and lanky plants. you need to keep the light about 2 in from the soil when you plant them after they appear move the light and keep it about 4 inches above the plant as it grows. floros are good because they dont get very hot and can be keep very close to the plant without burning it it also saves alot of light from despersing.i would feel under the bulbto see how close you can get your hand without feeling a realitive amount of heat and put it that close to your plantfor about 3 weeksmoving it as the plant grows then bringing it up to about 4 inches to 6 inches after 3 weeks this should force the plant to grow out instead of up and save your plants of couse you need to support the stem try this put a pencil in the soil and use a bobby pin to support the plant it still has free range motin so it can move around and build it own stregth.

Because I had to plant these in a temporary grow room till the main room is done I am only using 2 incandescent bulbs 60W... I know i know it sucks but that's all that would fit in that small room... I want to get those spiral lookin lights I heard those are the compact floro's... The Incandescents are and have always been REALLY close. I dont have a job so I'm not able to buy anything... My medicane cabnet has two 2 foot floros in it but I have no way to light them up in the grow room... Unless there's a way to do it without the ballast... iuno Thanks for the help I look forward to more help from ya woody lol

btw, I didn't mean that I was calling your plants crap. I was expressing unhappiness as in, "crap, that sucks."

actually considering that you're using incandescents...be super careful to not let the bulbs get too close. they'll fucking roast one of those puppies in a heart beat.

They actually haven't been getting hot really.. The small room is warm but that's cause its a small room.. and I know you ment crap as in that sucks... I've been sayin crap for a couple days.. I was just waiting it out to see if they'd get thicker... I'm into like 1 week and maybe 2 or 3 days of growing I honestly forget when I planted them... that damn memory thing haha

dude, incandescents are crazy hot. if you can't hold your finger on it for ten seconds then your plant can't either.

I know you're tight on cash. Trust me, I've been there for many many years of my life. But even shoveling a driveway for a ten spot and then buying two CFL bulbs might yield you a whole lot more bud.

Yeah... I'll see what I can do.. My mom said she'd give me some money if I racked her lawn some pine needles all over the place... For some reason we haven't got snow this year here in Pennsylvania haha

yeah and if you've got time on your hands I would use the fan a bit until maybe one plant fell over/leaned.(hell hopefully none will) then I'd leave them alone for 12-24 hours to repair...then try and maybe another one might fall over. lather, rinse, repeat...

and dangle those CFLs right on top of these babies.

how long should I have the fan on?? is 24 hours ok??? They wont fall over because I have them tied up... If I can't keep the fan on 24 hours how long should it be on and should it be on when the light is on or off??? I'll do the fan tonight if it's ok to have it on when the lights are off if not I'll hook it all up in the large grow room and put the lights and fan on the same timer so the lights and fan are both on 18 hours!

When you repot into larger pots plant them deep. By that I mean bury the stem into the potting material a couple of inches or so. I have done this when mine were reaching. It is a big help. That and the idea of a fan. :)
