LED put out less heat but still put out heat.
It depends on where your tent is, shed house etc, and what cfm fan you are using.
well the tent would be in an upstairs bedroom, as for extractor fans I'm not so sure yet, I'm looking for one thattl pump air fast enough through a carbon filter to kill the smell but thats new to me

@ThatSpudGuy u know of any fans that are silent ??
I'll have my shed grow going by the and if the year but I'm a bit worried about the neighbours hearing the fans..
can't wait to get it done,I'll definitely be back with pics
The Rvk are quieter then any cheap fans. Best way to make it really quiet would be to get a bigger size then you need or the L1 version and just use a variac speed controller to dial it down. Virtually silent. Its what im doing to keep things queit.

Yeah id second the RVK, i have an over sized one for intake and you wouldnt know its running, german enginnering at its best :-D

As for LEDs and heat, the likes of mars LED and those will put out a fair bit of heat. Im actully building a 12 light COB in the next few weeks which will be run at 30w each passivley cooled, very little heat will come off this light becasue ill be running it soft. If i used less COBs and bumped it up to say 70w you would start to notice the heat and may need active cooling. Depends on what route you take i suppose but an LED with the same quailty as HPS running without much heat will cost you upfront. IMHO :blsmoke:

thanks guys, ill look into rvk fans for sure

im not sure if i understand what you mean, surely if your running 30w COBs at a higher voltage to produce a 70w output it would reduce the lifespan significantly, maybe even blow the LEDs immediately?

By using more COBs per whatever space you're using you can run them softer an still get the same PPFD at the same hight as running fewer COBs harder. By running them softer you're outputting less heat. Look into the DIY LED builds you'll see what I'm on about. The COBs can be controlled using a driver, as long as the driver matches the COBs you can fully control the output without blowing them

**EDIT** Sorry the COBs are 135w each, running them at 30w or 70w wouldn't be a problem

Have a read of this

""I want to be clear. There are mainly 2 ways to build one of these. The first is very expensive like I'm doing and the second is much much cheaper.

The route you choose should depend on what your looking for. My route costs a whole lot of money up front. Roughly $4600 but I'm building this light for all out efficiency later on. With this many lights this close together it will allow me to run all of the cobs at a much lower power down close to the canopy and at the lower power level I can run at is where guys are getting 2 grams per watt with a similar rig.

Now, in my setup there is 42 cobs @ very low drive. The other way you can go is with far fewer cobs at a higher drive power. These cobs are still going to be very very efficient at a higher drive. Far more efficient than red, blue LED panels by far.

Let's look at it like this. While my room will be running 42 of them I could just have easilly covered the same area thoroughly with probably 12-13 of them. You have to remember, these Cree chips are capable of 135W each! In my panel I will only be running them at a maximum of 50W each but most of the time 30W-35W each or so.

So I wanted to be sure that some of you who may be interested in building your own cob setup understand that mine is NOT what a typical setup would cost.""

As you all know, weed is one versatile plant. Roll a blunt, DIY yourself a bong, get mashed on some hash brownies, or even sneak a suppository in your vagina—the possibilities go on and on. Over in the US, a handful of states are already fully recreational and some weed smokers are switching to vaping. Sure, everyone loves to laugh at cloud-chasing e-cigarette dickheads, but when it comes to cannabis, vapers might have the last laugh. Why? It’s less smelly, more economically efficient, gives a cleaner high and is probably much better for your health.

Unfortunately, scientific research into cannabis vaping is somewhat limited by its illegality around the world. So, we had a quick (unscientific) chat with three US weed vapers to find out why vaping is their preferred method of herb consumption. Thirty-year-old Denver smoked weed for around eight years before switching to vaping four years ago. Twenty-year-old A.V., who runs his own vape info website FMVaporizers, only smoked for a couple of months and picked up vaping two years ago. Mark, 43, smoked for seven years and discovered vaping back in the early days of 2004. He now runs a small business 420EDC selling US-made designer portable vapes.

Each of the three vapers have noticed a marked change in their general respiratory health since they switched over. “I've not experienced any of the negative side effects of cannabis smoking since dedicating my regimen to vaporization,” Mark tells me, before listing a number of regular smoking side-effects, like chronic coughing, wheezing, and coughing up phlegm. A.V. explains how his lungs and throat would ache during that short stint of smoking cannabis. “Vapor is much cooler in temperature and allows for long draws without any of the pain of smoking,” he says. When it comes to e-cigarettes, scientific reviews tend to indicate that they’re less harmful than smoking.

Another key feature of vapes is that they don’t stink the place up. “Smoke is stinky and gets on your clothes, car, hair, face, whatever,” says A.V. “Vaporizers produce a smell that disappears in around 15 minutes.” This view is shared by other vapers, such as this one on Drugs Forum, who claimed that his handheld device created the innocuous scent of popcorn. In his own words: “Perfect for a movie theatre.” As a result, you won’t have to worry about making the wrong impression prior to that big interview or first date. Plus, you can happily enjoy your weed in public without drawing unwanted attention.

If the above two advantages seem somewhat obvious, this next one came as a surprise to us. When you smoke a spliff, you expose your cannabis to something like 426 C. “Vaporizing is more efficient because you are not literally burning half the material trying to get to the benefit of the other half,” Mark explains. Alongside extracting 70-80 percent of the cannabinoids—the parts of the plant that give it flavour and get you high—you can also cook edibles with the leftover vaporized material. A.V. agrees with Mark on this point, suggesting that he uses 1/10th of the weed in his vape compared to what he was previously filling blunts with. And, as Denver tells me, this also means that you’ll be saving money by not visiting your local dispensary so much. “A small amount of weed goes a long way when vaping!”

A final benefit to vaping cannabis is that it gives you a cleaner high. “Usually when smoking, you’ll feel a rush to the head, sometimes your eyes will even get watery,” Denver says. “That's not part of getting high, you’re inhaling all the toxins that come from combustion.” On the other hand, vaping highs tend to feel more subtle, although they’re not necessarily any less powerful. “The high is more pure, lasts longer and is much more functional compared to a high from combustion,” Mark adds. As well as reducing the number of toxins, many devices allow you to vape at specific temperatures. THC (the psychoactive constituent that makes you feel stoned) is initially released at a temperature of 157 C. CBD (the psychoactive constituent that makes you feel mellow) is activated later at 180 C. By controlling your vaping temperature, you can moderate your high.

Jean-François Etter, professor of public health at the University of Geneva, broadly agrees with the benefits that the three American cannabis vapers outline above. “In our survey, some users also said that vaping cannabis helped them reduce their total cannabis consumption,” he explained over email. “They smoke fewer joints and do not completely compensate by vaping.” In addition, he told us that some stoners are attracted to vaping because it allows them to use cannabis where smoking isn’t permitted. Etter also described a few disadvantages to vaping weed in e-cigarettes, such as equipment becoming clogged and batteries running dry while users are out and about.

So far, the Canadian federal government has been fairly coy about cannabis vaporizers. A recent report suggests that dry herb vaporizers would be categorized as accessories and be available for purchase if safety-approved and appropriately labelled. Anyone seeking to vape liquid concentrates would need to wait another year while more specific regulations are developed. There’s no direct advice on vaping cannabis, but perhaps this will change as increased research is carried out. Regardless, it’s worth thinking about buying a vape to celebrate this year’s summer of bud.

This hot weather has me outside in the real world haha. Hit 32 the other day around my place honestly can’t cope lol

Surprisingly enough though, the tent never goes above 27C. Have the lights off at 12pm and on at 6pm so I’m avoiding the hot spots. And the t5 puts out very little heat, even compared to the 250w CFL.

Also got myself a new toy for keeping on top of the temps. A little pricy but it works brilliant. Holds data for 30 days so you can go back over the previous weeks to look for spikes or drops. I was able to adjust my light cycle going off the readings. Very handy

Im struggling with the 2 tents running they both reach 30/31 i think its because im venting into the attic. That looks like a decent gizmo man got a link?

Yeah I’m pretty happy I don’t have anything flowering at the min haha. Wouldn’t prob end up turning off a light lol. Mate of mine has his vented to the attic too. Some smell of insulation from his house :-P

Yeah here it is SensorPush https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01AEQ9X9I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZeooBbGWXKH8W

The sensor alone is £49 which isn’t too bad but I had to buy the hub so I could connect when I’m away. The sensor itself works off Bluetooth so if your always home no need for the hub. They’re very well built, iv had a few of these types of sensor over the years and this is the best by far. And the customer support is on point

I dont get any smell surprisingly and i even have the attic door open a bit to get rid of negative pressure in the chimney.

Thats not bad man i was looking for a decent one like that might pick one up. What sort of modem is needed for it?

Hows the outdoor grow man?

emeraldbuds

You can buy the hub for them on amazon, you’ll see them on the add they look like little routers. They cost £99 each but it’s worth it. I can get alerts when I’m away if it gets too hot or if humidity drops to low.

Ah man don’t talk to me about the outdoor ones haha there still inside. I have bigger pots for them and the all mix soil I’ll be putting them out this week. I had a spot for them but I couldn’t dig down and with this wether they would die without water every day or two. I may find a spot I can access easily so I can water when needed

Yeah seen it there man might invest in it some time. Have me eyes on a 4 pot RDWC system for 200 so thatll be first once i convince the missus lol.

Awh no way youve probably missed the best weather well have this summer knowing our weather haha

Moving to the dark side lol would love to do DWC but I need to dial in this flood and drain. Takes a bit to get used too. This will be my 3rd run so hopefully iv ironed out the kinks. Ah yes the missus permission. Every mans weakness haha

I know!!! They would be some size now if I got them out at the end of May when I had planned. Too much going on and didn’t get time to find a spot. Hopefully where ever I go this year will be ok for next season.

Yeah man just tryna set up an easier system then hand watering hah. Have actually had 2nd thoughts on the DWC and might run a 32 site aeroponic system and run clones only. Have moms in veg that way ill be able to have a tight ship system for harvests.

Yeah too right man ah hopefully youll get the good weather again next year man
