The Lost Art of Foliar Feeding

Whoever said you have to have the lights off? I can see thousands of farmers who foliar feed their crops spraying their fields in the dark LOL.

The issue is the stomata (the "holes") closing down because of high heat.

Liquid Light? You gotta be shittin' me. You just took it in the hiney ho! 1 liter of more Dutch hype and bullshit for $40? Metabolites? Amino acids, hah! Where are the electrolytes? I don't see no frickin' electrolytes!

Dutch Master Gold Range Liquid Light foliar spray is designed to dramatically improve the way your plant processes your HID or flourescent lighting. Amazingly, it gives your plants the equivalent of up to 60% more usable light!
Liquid Light is a formula of selected Amino Acids, Metabolites, and Phospholipids that works by supercharging the chloroplasts, tiny specialized cells in the leaves of your plant that processes light and give them their natural green color.
These cells are the solar powered engines that are responsible for turning the light and CO2 into sugar. The more light these cellular powerhouses process the more sugar they make.
The increased plant sugar that Dutch Master's Liquid Light generates stimulates more growth, stronger plant development and ultimately more flower or fruit yield.
Dutch Master recommends applying Liquid Light when your grow lights are ON and will be for at least the next 3 hours.
I was under the impression that if you sprayed/misted your plants with the lights on we could be in danger of burning our plants leaves... as the water blobs etc... would act as a kinda Magnifying glass ?? Yeah I meant to say Stomata :) :) am very high at the mo and couldn't think of the word :) ..

I am un-clear on your opinion of this 'Liquid Light' product!? would you say the product is worthwhile, although kinda expensive? or is it pure bullshit and just a waste of money.. ??

As I say : I only tried a sample and the leaves did react to it and lift more than normal towards the main light.. I'd like to hear more of your views on this product as no one likes to throw money away.. and if there is another cheaper/more effective way of doing the same thing, then I am all for giving it a go :) - STELTHY :leaf:

Quick bit of knowledge ive learned about foliar feeding, yes it works and its proven to work but u cant run a cycle on foliar alone u need to feed da roots, foliar should be used as a booster not main npk! You can foliar feed early in morning or late in evening and plant will take it up well just dnt burn ur plants with too much fert!! ive tried liquid light and yes it works ,itll make ur plants foliage take off,but wen u flip all dat nitrogen will affect ur flower,ur yield will be slightly lower.i live in an area where agriculture is our main commodity and i know for a fact the grapes grown here in california are foliar fed and finished with a high foliar potassium fert! ! Not all but most, remember i live in valley i know!!! Me personally ive noticed u do get higher yield with a good foliar but if u foliar till da end of flower cycle ull end up with golden buds!!! Big buds but golden and da taste wont be da same,it wont tastee bad but it wont taste like ud expect,i foliar only with water in veg dats all!!! If u do foliar,do so only in veg,ull get great results!! I dnt do it becuz ive already figured out my strains and wat they like!!!

Okay The Dutch Masters liquid light and saturator work gravy! Im using it right now with my regular feeding schedule and it works great i spray with the lights on and i get no light burn or any thng bad just mix it right and i add a little AN Wet Betty for extra surfant spray.

There are chemical salts foliar feeding plants outside, since forever.

Even regardless of pollution lightning creates tons of nitric acid: foliar N for plants. In fact, synthetic nutrients were discovered because of bomb craters flourishing with plant life. Food for thought.

If you want to know more, look up the Carbon cycle and the Nitrogen cycle. Air is 78% N.

Yeah, I realize that the air we breathe contains a lot of nitrogen. That doesn't mean that cannabis is able to process it from the air, as it can't. There are soil microbes that can sequester nitrogen from the air, but that's another topic. I just didn't understand your acid rain comment.

Very informative thread. Threads like this are great for me, because I take what I can from the thread itself and read up on the topics elsewhere also. Thanks to everybody who contributed. + rep for spl1 and Uncle Ben.

Lightning.

And nowadays: pollution

Verde from Humbolt, spray my plants a couple times a week and they grow like crazy. Have been using it for a while now and my plants are dark green up until the end of harvest.

Try spraying 10ml/L nytrozyme while in grow every day...they love this.
To the doubters and scoffers of foliar feeding...try foliar feeding 'Halo' (harpin protein)..results are simply awesome.

In grow they will grow rapidly fast (the product is a harpin protein that sends a signal to the plant for a immune response to kick in...SAR, systemic acquired resistance)...topping and/or supercropping is a must indoors. The usually small puny branches at the bottom of the plant become huge.

When you spray in flower (i do it every 2 weeks) it seriously matures the buds and fast. Also great for keeping away budrot.

Do this and you will Never need to spray anything else ever again because it will simply never match the effect of halo, all else sprayed is simply redundant and rendered a waste.

Seemingly super on seedlings but never tried this...anyone used it for this?

I foliar feed with house & garden's magic green every ten days in veg...but can I keep using in bloom? And anyone foliar in bloom with canna's boost, if so how much and how often? Thanks!

I have always used superthrive (B-1) on my bonsai trees and now on Cannabis as well as a diluted nutrient solution, Dutch Gold A and B during grow, Sensi Bloom A and B now that I'm flowering, a few drops of biodegradable shampoo/detergent as a 'spreader'/'sticker', and a light dose of micro nutrients, (like Earth Juice Micro-Blast). I always use water that's been in a well aired container with a small amount of food grade H2O2 for at least 24 hours, and tend to foliar feed about once a week, but mist with superthrive more regularly. I have used harpin protein before, a product called Messenger. I was under the impression though, that it was not yet approved for food crops and that keeps me from using it on my bud... I know aspirin also produces a systemic immune response, however it may interfere with other hormones in use, like thiamin, so again, I use it seldom.
The most important thing to remember about foliar feeding is to keep it light, as its easy to burn the leaves if salt residues form on the leaf surface, causing moisture to be sucked out of the plant cells toward the residues... essentially reverse osmosis, only in the leaves rather than the roots. I try to keep the nutrient levels at an EC a quarter or less that which I would use to water the roots. Also, if the plant is fed through the leaves too often it can cause the root system to weaken, or so I've read. Its best to keep a balance between foliar and root feeding in my experience. I will say that regular misting does seem to help with some pest issues, particularly spider-mites, though some pests will actually be attracted to moist leaves, like aphids, and of course one can cause mildew, mold or fungal problems if the leaves are wet too often. Environmental factors like humidity, air exchange and temperature will greatly effect how much one can mist. A cool, stale, damp environment is no place for foliar feeding where Cannabis and many other plants are concerned. Again, a balance must be struck. There is no magic formula or 'trick' to grow well, its a matter of careful, measured care, and nothing will teach that better than experience.
