the lower 3 blade leaves are turning yellow and eventually falling off.

is it normal for that to happen? the rest of the leaves and plant are doing great.

Starting from the bottom up sound like its rootbound, might need a bigger pot.

its in a 3 1/2 gallon pot and its only about 15 inches tall. it just started to flower 4 days ago. this has been going on for about a month and a half. thats what i was thinking either rootbound or maybe the ph is off

Well its easier to check the ph then to transplant so.......

how do i test the ph of the soil?

Well if the plant is in that size container it isn't root bound at 15 inches tall, the rootball will be about the same size as the plant itself. Sounds as if the plant is going through its stretch, just going into flower. At this point in the grow your plant is wanting more, more, more nutes to use in its growth. The plant more than likely just needs a bigger helping of N in its diet, you shouldn't be losing any leaves yet. This is a sign the plant is drawing N from its leaves to make up for the lack of it in the soil.

It's not root bound!
What and how much are you feeding?
A possibility would be under feeding
low ppm's.

Starting out when people would say to me "How hard can it be to grow a weed?" I want to punch them. It's not hard to keep it alive, but to get the results you're looking for is a different story.
