Hey all, ive got the split down the middle a time or two as well, and ive come to leaving a bit more stem, left above the manifold.. this prevents the splitting for me. Say like an Inch.. Just my 2cents :-)

I've been doing this also. If I cut roughly an inch or so above the node it leaves a little stem and doesn't seem to split as easily.

i have sum tomato rings in but the growth is pushing them back out the soil so im trying to tie sum branches down,,, but next time i leave the extra on see if that helps cos i often do snap and split them

hi mainliners,
my question (below) is about using a short but wide container. nugs was using one he cut down on that 16 head "levitating" plant.

but here is some background:

this is a first go-round for me. from my groups of seedlings i'll end up running 1 plushberry 1 querkle and 1 ripped bubba as multi strain perpetual. i know canopy management between the 3 will raise the difficulty level but i can work around potential height difference with risers/staging. I do believe they are similar in growth and height "on paper" the plush may be the tallest since they are from seed and not clone as of yet.

After the 2 gallon stage, I was planning on using 7 gal geopots but i think im may try to use 15 gallon size with the top of the container rolled down halfway. A shorter but wider container that is equal to 7 gallons.

gaining a few extra inches will be advantage. I plan to use about 35% supersoil and place that on the outside edge of the container. the rest of the base will be added to be a lateral buffer.

also im putting the containers on their own 18" Weber Grill replacement grate on the drip tray. there are about $10 each, only 1/4" tall and will get air to the roots at bottom of the container. Ill have the grates up on 1/2'" rubber blocks for air flow and drainage.

So the question is i guess, Does this seems sensible? are there any potential drawbacks?

Yes - it happens all the time. You will get better at timing the training. I wait until mine are a little wilty. Some strains are more prone to breaking.

We are at day 45 or 6.5 weeks and is it ever exciting!

Grow details

  • CR+ (Blimburn) / Pinewarp (BC Bud Depot)
  • Coco/perlite 50/50
  • Canna Coco A+B, recently swithced to CNS17 Grow/Bloom
  • Botanicare Cal/Mag+
  • Liquid/DRY Koolbloom
  • Dynagro Proteckt
  • Two 600w HPS bulbs in a 4'w x 6'L space
All my plants were started on 10/7 and switched to flower on 12/9

This is my CR+ (blimburn seeds) topped for 8, looks like 7 but she is really bushy and one of the tops gets covered up a bit. Breeder info, and seedfinder.eu say it should be finished around 50-56 days, which if that is accurate I should be harvesting this on the 31st for 54 days in flower. I started giving her DRY koolbloom around 1.5-2 weeks ago, and I could tell a difference almost immediately.

Here is my one of my pinewarp plants (BC Bud Depot), she does not have as much purple as her sister. She is a 70 days strain, and just started receiving dry koolbloom yesterday.

Here is my 2nd pinewarp plant. She is so purple, she almost looks black. I found around 5 seeds last night, little bummed about it but oh well. Pinewarp is an outdoor strain which I am growing indoors, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Also both pinewarp plants fan leaves curl in on themselves. The only two answers I have been able to come up with is, a defense mechanism to prevent itself from loosing to much mositure from the fan, or over fertilization. I am bettering its to much nutrients, considering the breeder info says it does not need much care.
