This is one of the girls..she should be a grapegod but damn i am sure i was sent a mixed up seed casue she is looking like a sativa. Pic is from this morning. She looks like a crab in this pic.

The others are THC Bomb which looks to be a bvery nice strain for mainline..chunky leaves and stems, a couple of jamican dreams and an afghan #1. Will post pics when i get the chance.

Just found this thread. Huge props to Nugbuckets! Just awesome dude!
I had this girl in the ground behind my barn.
She was almost 3 ft. tall when a rat decided to wreak havoc with her.
Rather than wait for it to come back and totally finish her off, I put her in a pot.
I pinched off the main stalk damage with a clip, then let her recover a bit.
She was slowly getting better and I decided she's a good candidate for my first mainlining attempt.
Got about two months of vegging to do before flowering should start.
Should be interesting for sure. She's got three main stems coming off the stalk which I have topped.
Here's a progression in pictures of her miserable life so far. She's a Northern Lights x Afghani. Wish her luck!

The problem with mainlining when you snap one of stalk it takes forever to grow back.

As great as this method is for yeild, it adds waaaay too much time for vegging in winter and under lights. I dont think 2 weeks extra is correct, more like 4-5 weeks under lights. I am growing them under 2 400W HPS in optimal conditions. The first time i tried mainlining was during summer so my girls were receiving a lot of sun and a bit of indoor light on bad days and it was only 2 weeks extra in veg..now i'm just growing indoors as its winter and all of them are growing so slowly.

Dont remove fan leaves at all..slows it right down i guess.

I think i am only going to mainline one plant from now on and just crop and super crop the rest. I seriously cannot wait anymore longer. I have two girls i planted on the 26/4 and they both havent reached the rim of ring i placed.

Anyway just my 2cents worth at this stage.

very important question needing answering... once you have the desired tops, do you stop trimming off the new nodes growing?(not talking about the fan leave) I'm allowing each top to get about 8’’ tall before flipping to 12/12, hopefully to end around 12’’ tall(each top, not the plant- plant should be around 24’’ tall max) but again, trimming all growth below the tops, i got that, but do you trim the tiny new nodes growing on your tops, which by the time you flip, she be about 2’’-3’’ tall themselves growing out of the tops... advice is needed and appreciated....

I personally wouldn't, those will just be more bud sites unless you cut 'em off. From what I understand using this method it's to get an even canopy and 8 (or however many you want) main colas instead of just 1, but that's just how I feel about it and others may disagree

After you have mainlined the same strain several times, you will get a feel for what they like. Nugs said to use strains that produce large single colas. That way you get 8, 16, 32... single mains and not just a dense bush. On the bushier plants I try to keep the side branches to a minimum unless they look like they are going to be as big as the mains. For the first try I would remove the secondaries and just focus on 16 perfect mains. You will be very happy :)

Cheers,
Mo

Thanks HILLBILLY! Makes sense to me...
& MOHICAN, im referring to the side shoots coming out of the actually mainlining colas, not coming from the main stem, but i get where YOUR coming from and no, i keep NO side shoots other then the ones shooting from my trained mainlined colas as HILLBILLY stated! Thanks Guys!!!! This thread is awesome and yea, it has added roughly 3 weeks to veg time but will deff be worth it...so much easier to train and keep track of these big tops rather then 100 mini tops!!! if you can wait the extra veg time! GO FOR IT!

OK - I see what you mean. I do keep the ones attached to the main cola if they look like they are producing good flowers and they are not restricting airflow or light.

mainlining has added allot of veg time on for me but it's worth it just to try a new technique. My other plant in veg I'm gonna super crop and see what that does for me and just keep trying new techniques from there, there are an endless number of techniques ranging from super simple to extremely complex that I wanna try just for the hell of it

If you do not trim the fan leaves off right away, and if you only start topping after the plant is exploding with growth, you can keep her going at full speed. She needs to be fed well and given a good sized pot for her roots.
