The Massive Strain/Pheno hunt

I am going on a massive pheno hunt for top phenos from top strains. Successful postage.
Now Im about to throw in a massive amount of strains. at least 3 (some 6) feminzed seeds per strain. 5 if regular minimum (some 10).

I am looking for anyone who has grew out any of these at all. These are top strains so id hope to just get some peoples 2 cents and maybe get some discussion going rather than blow up old threads. Let me know what you guys think.

Nice list! I grow the Skywalker Og, Kosher and Pineapple and they are all great. I have reviews of them in my signature.

Man, that sounds like some fun times ahead for you. You are going to end up with some incredible keepers with all those beans. Cheers.

OG18 is bomb but can be finnicky. VERY light feeder.

Anyone try og 13 yet?

Pineapple Express kicks ass. Have done 2 grows of it. Both times stellar results. Bag appeal, smell, and potency all top notch. I always let 3 or 4 others test my grows as I may be biased in my opinion. Everyone loves it. RP headband is very good IMO. Only problem is if you are afraid of cannabis odor, she may not be for you. I can contain any smell in my tent with my ventilation set up. But harvest time was a different story. My house reeked for a week. I can crack a jar now and within seconds the room is filling up with that delicious sour smell. Some of the best I have grown to date. I have Extrema and kosher kush yet to grow. Waiting till cooler weather to get going. At least if a little funk escapes outside, it want hit too many noses because everyone will have taken their monkey asses inside by then.

skip greenhouse seeds. probably grandaddy purp seeds too. I've heard some good about pyramid seeds, they have good ak genetics some people on this forum recommended it a while ago. Mr. Nice- Black widow is widow, the real deal and its still high quality hybrid despite age making the widow hybrids more unstable. grew the shark shock and medicine man 3 or so years ago with my bro and we had a few plants that would toss bananas or herm under too low temps(50-55 nighttime or lower temps) so they had to be finished early. if you are going with sannie and you want herijuana genetics but don't want a plant that takes 3 weeks for a clone to root get the "Anesthesia", its just a strong as herijuana(heri dad in the hybrid) and it smells funkier, higher yield potential too. the heri shines in this hybrid, mom of Anesthesia is supposed to be Positronics skunk/afghani i think. I've grown several packs of homegrown fantaseeds armageddon, definitely good on all catagories so far, haven't experienced a herm but a few plants (rarely) can be a bit easier to build a tolerance smoking it. the yield on armageddon could be considered close to critical + from dinafem, alot of resin makes for easy hash maker, good for bubble, smells and tastes like limes, some are fuely limes others are like lime liqour.

I've grown the Jack the ripper and Jilly bean as well, JTR on one hand has strong lemon smell with a sweet candyish smell similar to sour patch sour/sweet sugar(from spacequeen dad)this haze hybrid can be racy and paranoia enducing, nothing indica about this despite the 8-9 week flowering time. Jilly bean can be a 10/10 in taste/flavor/smell but if i were to grade the strength of the high it would range between 6-8/10 depending on the phenotype/environment. not going to find a jillybean that will lay you out, its very chill weed that seems to kill paranoia, tastes and smells usually range from oranges to candy.

Here's my thoughts.

-Its a very good list, though IMO, I'd leave out the stuff from Greenhouse.

-At least a few of those should have minimal pheno variation, and you shouldn't have to do any selection at all. A few of them, 5 or 10 plants may not be enough to find the best possible phenos.

-Obviously, I don't see you doing this with 5-10 plants x 40 strains so the question is, what is the point of this exercise? It can be fun to look for phenos, and you'll learn a lot in the process, but not sure its a worthwhile project unless the goal is to find one exceptional mother plant, keep it, then keep growing crops of it repeatedly. How many plants can you grow at once?

On the Sickmeds stuff, you've seen my grow reports, so you know what you might expect.

With Williams Wonder, there is really minimal pheno variation; some plants are a bit taller/shorter, or a bit "stonier", but they're really not that different. I'd say any seed you grow from a pack should give you what the strain has to offer and I doubt you're going to find some "magical" one that stands out enough from the others to make this sort of pheno hunt worthwhile.

Green Crack S1 will throw off different phenos. If you toss enough of these you can find individual phenos just like the clone-only plant, and you can also probably find some variation in overall yield, plant structure, and finishing time, to your personal preference. Doing a pheno hunt here is probably worthwhile if you can't get a cut of the original (eg you're in Europe), but personally, if I were that much into Green Crack, I'd just try to grab a clone of the real deal clone only strain, rather than try to do this sort of selection.

Ya I've looked at your grow reports and They are a Reason I got sickmeds.

And I'm doing this bc I've been doing the same strain forever.

gonna go 110 percent and find my girls so I can finish with around 10 keeper amazing phenos.

Gotcha. This makes a lot of sense.

I'd say if this is your goal, then instead of going on a pheno hunt, you should first establish what you want on your "menu" then find the strains to fill it.

EG, if I were becoming my own coffee-shop/dispensary with 8-10 lines, I'd want maybe 2 pure indicas, maybe 2-3 pure sativas and/or hazes, 1-2 CBD rich strains, and then the rest popular hybrids of high potency and name recognition. Those could rotate a bit, but in that list you'd want at least one "OG", maybe a purple line, at least one "berry" line, maybe a citrus one, etc.

You get the idea. If you start with this goal in mind, which strains you'll need to do your pheno hunting from should become a lot clearer, I think. If you're really serious about this, you might also consider trying to get your hands on some serious pro "clone only" strains, thereby saving you the time and trouble (let alone possibly expense) of doing some of this pheno hunting.

Also, "dialing in" ten strains is hard. . .doing that right will probably take several years. IMO you're better off focusing on high quality with a small number, then gradually expanding, rather than trying to do this all at once.

You're probably right my friend. It prob has a bit to do with me just having the cash and being really excited about it all. I have about 120 beans popped right now that are taking space of my clones but I'm fine with that. Lots are fem.

its never an issue when you don't have enough room. That means you're at full strength babyyyyy.

And you keep saying clone only strains, how do I get them? I am just a homebody who sticks to himself. People wish they knew me and I don't wish to know many but one would def be another grower who has clone only sick ass strains .

If you can drive to CA or CO (plus a few other places) you can buy them in person.

Elsewhere they may be available, but underground, and you'll have to know someone.

Clones can also be mailed from place to place, again, you'll have to know someone willing to do this for you, but people trade them and do this sort of thing all the time.

i would love a room of mother plants I could take cuts from anytime I was running low or wanted something different. I'm jealous of your ability to make such a huge hunt.

I'm currently just stockpiling beans until I phase out the next mom, and I don't want to let any go, because I can only keep about 6-7 moms at a time.

Couple things I thought I'd suggest to you.

If you're seriously gonna pheno hunt a few beans of each strain won't really do it... I'd say that a 10 pack would be a bare minimum for hunting.

I would suggest reg seeds over feminized stuff as well, and would scrap some of the breeders you listed.

I'm not gonna knock any of the seed companies you listed. But, you should check out Rare Dankness, Gage Green, DNA & RP. Starting with better and more stable genetics helps a lot.
