So far I don't have any complaints with the MG Potting Mix. Watering every 3-4 days with PH balanced water (around 6.0ph)

Growth has been vigorous, the size has nearly doubled in 7 days. Thumbs up Miracle-Gro! =)

Looks good.
I'll post a pic of mine when it reaches day 17.

I just prefer topping plants later after they've had a chance to get a little taller if I know they will be vegged for a while. I went ahead and said screw it and topped them last night, I may end up topping a second time before they go into flower.

So my Go Baby Go! light and filter system came in today. 1000 watts of pure growing goodness =)

Here's the flower room so far 6x6x8 - 1000 watt HPS with EasyCool 6, 6' inline and carbon filter pulling air out.

Temps are hovering at 81 degrees, I can live with that =)

Awesome, new 1000 watt bulb lasted hmmmm. About 3 hours and died. (shakes his head) I think it's the firing mechanism or something cause it has crap rattling around inside it.

ANyone know much about these systems? Just a bad bulb or could there be something else that caused it to blow? The ballast seems to work fine.

wow love the new set up! nice and clean. I have the same wall mount fans you have....both of which broke on me within 3 weeks?!?!? I would just buy a new bulb. good chance the one it came with was junk, if you get a new bulb (which im assuming your going to have to anyways) and it does the same shit.....call the store you ordered it from, explain, and Im sure they will be happy to exchange. If you dont feel like dropping 80-120$ for a new one, sylvania makes good 1000w hps bulbs for like $35.

Hmmmmmmmm...
Did you leave it in for 30 min or so to see if it will restrike? 1000w are slow starters.
Cold makes them slower.
I got touchy lil 150 w HPS that i have to tap on the bulb to get to fire up?
Does the mogul socket feel warm at all after trying it?

Also when ever I top a plant I make the top a clone.

The bulb is definately bad, it has pieces shaking around inside the glass. I am concerned though about the breaker it's running off. It's a 15amp breaker and the ballast itself runs around 9 amps. When I get the new bulb in I need to make some adjustments and try to let the 1000watt ballast run on it's own fuse. I think having the inline and ballast on the same 15amp fuse is pushing it. Pretty sure they pull more amps on startup than while running.

Back to the drawing board =)

Edit. To be honest SCARHOLE I didn't think to check. The ballast itself was very hot but I didn't check the hood or "mogule" thingy while the bulb was hot. After it cooled I pulled the bulb and it had some busted pieces in it.

I'm not very electric savy so if someone could give me pointers on how to hook this system up from an electrical stand point, that would help. I was able to trace the breakers and I'm able to allocate one 15 amp fuse for the 1000 watt light and 6" inline, and I have another 15 amp breaker to run the 400 watt ballast and inline for my veg tent. I looked up the amperage of all of my units and I believe I can stay well under that if I use both breakers. Hope this makes sense.

Is it ok to use a heavy gauge extension cord for the 1000 watt system, so I can reroute to another area thats using a separate breaker?

Im not huge into electrical, but I can tell you this. If you have say a 20 amp breaker....dont go over 15!...your not supposed to anyways. so for 15, Id say don't go over 12.5 amps Having the ballast and fan on one 15 amp is probably pushing it your right. Can you run the fan and 400w on the same breaker? cause if a 1k watt is 9.5 amps, a 400 could only be like 6amps tops (i dont know I dont have a 400w). I dont know what your fan is running but it couldn't be over 3 amps right? I have run a 1000 watter of a very heavy duty drop cord before, just make sure its rated to run it.

Personally I'd run my 1k hps on one 15 amp, and run everything else that I could off the other 15 amp. Also make sure you have a good surge protector for your 1000 watt.

or...could you run the 400w with the drop cord to another area on a separate breaker...probably be safer.

Yeah I think I can LambofGod.

Ok so I had to temporarily make my Veg tent into my flower room while I sort out the 1000 watt issue. Right now I have the 400 watt and 4 inch inline running off one 15 amp breaker.

So my big 6" inline only pulls 1.0 amp, so I can assume the little 4" will pull no more than that either. The 400 watt should pull no more than 5 amps (seeing as how the big 1000 watt only pulls 9)

So I should be alright running the 8" inline on the same timer as the 1000 watt so long as nothing else is drawing on the 15 amp breaker. This leaves 5 amps (light = 9 amps, 6" inline = 1 amp, Breaker = 15 amps to compensate for the startup amperage of the 1000 watt. I'll also have them on a 15 amp surge protector and 15 amp digital timer. I'll also run them on a heavy duty industrial size drop cord. I think this will give me some peace of mind as I'm away from my systems 9-10 hours a day while I work hence everything runs on timers (I live alone and nobody knows I grow so nobody to check on my things while I'm away)

Alright so the 1000 watt bulb came in a day early! I've spent the last 5 hours finishing both the veg and flower rooms and I have to say that for a total of 1400 watts of growing goodness my pad is extremely stealth (So long as the spare bedroom stays locked and no kids allowed =P Noise level is low, and there is absolutely no smell (I have 8 plants flowering and 4 in veg currently). Temps are a little high in the 1000 watt room but I have a portable AC unit on the way. Holding steady at 84 degrees. Hopefully the little ac unit can drop it at least 5-6 degrees.

At any rate I'll have updates tomorrow on this grow. Day 25 from seed and my 4 little veggers are pushing along nicely. They have moved out of the little CFL cab and are now under a 400 watt MH.

Alright so here is a real quick update. Sorry I didn't take more pictures but I've been whooped lately. Working 10 hour days and another several hours after work on ventilation issues with the new flower room.

So anyway, here we are. These four were moved under a 400 watt MH light in a 4x4 grow tent 2 days ago. I topped them at day 25 and transplanted into 3 gallon containers on day 27. Each of the are around 12-13 inches now. These guys are still only getting PH adjusted water. I will begin 1/4 strength Jack's Classic 20-20-20 around day 35 or 40 or when my gut is telling me they've exhausted enough of the miracle grow pre-ferts from the extra medium they were transplanted in. I'm pretty much going to guess. lol

It appears the MG mix ran out of nutes around 1 month of veg. I began getting yellowing of the leaves which appeared to be a nitrogen deficiency, I watered yesterday with 1/4 str Jack's fert which includes micro-nutes and I foliar fed with 1/4 str water. I saw a noticable improvement within a couple hours. I'm still researching how to identify nutrient deficiancies so I'm by far no pro on determining problems, however, it appears my hunch was correct, these tykes needed food =)

Great grow man, I'm having a bit of problem I have not fed them yet and they are 2 week into flowering, is this a sign its time to feed her or something else? I'm asking because you said your noticed some yellowing maybe similar to this?

Hey Kevin, yeah I'm still new but my plant before these did the same thing about 4 weeks into flower. What I did was ran a couple gallons of PH adjusted water through the soil. Then I checked her PH, when it came out around 6.5 ish, I waited until the soil dried out again and started her on 1/4 str MG Bloom Nutes and she pulled back out and now has nice sized buds =) I'm harvesting in 3 weeks or so.

She's getting nutrient deprived it looks like. Leach her out til her runoff is 6.0-6.5, then start her on a Bloom nute regiment at 1/4 str, then bump up to 1/2 strength in a couple weeks =)

Hope that helps. Remember old growth will stay yellow and burnt looking, if the new growth comes in nice and green then you should be in the clear =)

Thank you, I try to adjust my pH but the cheap ebay meter is I think off, It's saying its 6.5pH run off, but soil is measuring 7.0 and the watering water is at 6.5 adjusted from 7.4 with lemon juice ( what you use?), It's been 2 week I have been doing this, the yellowing on the side of leafs is gone (yey), but then this arises, so I dono

any-whoo ill try to water her with some 1/4' bloom nutes ( if i can find decent one in this shit town ) and hope its just hungry plant.. if that don't help then I'm going to cry, and keep crying till I find a solution

Alright so we've now reached day 30 from seed, yay! I took clones on day 29 as nodes are now beginning to alternate and that means we should be getting pre-flowers soon! :lol:

They also had their first watering and foliar feeding with 1/4 strength Jack's Classic on day 29 cloning day.

Day 29 I took 2 clones a piece for a total of 8 clones and put them in propagation

(Nothing fancy for cloning, I used rockwool soaked in ph adjusted water for a couple hours and a little Olivia's Cloning gel)

Here are my kiddo's Day 30 from seed 24 hours after cloning each of them.

Pre-flower update will be soon, lets see how many will be eventually graduating to the Boom Boom Room! 1000 watt HPS system ;-)

Yeah it sounds legit, Nitrogen deprived plants will begin to suck nitrogen out of there own leaves, this is normal in flower you just don't want it to start to early. 2 weeks is a bit early to allow nitrogen to go dry. No big deal, if you go back a couple posts I have a demonstration of how I adjust my PH with pics using a simple $12.99 PH test kit. If you can't check PH (I don't trust cheap wal-mart meters) then go ahead and begin a LOW strength bloom nute regiment with nitrogen in it. MG Bloom Booster works alright just make sure you start at 1/4 strength.

Big thing is relax, don't be hasty when dealing with flowering plants. Get your hands on a simple liquid PH test kit. PH adjust your nute water to 6.0-6.5 and no higher than 7.0 and run the 1/4 str regiment with any nitrogen included bloom nutes you can get your hands on. The lady just needs to eat =)

WHat are temps and humidity and what kind of lights. This plays a role as well as possible nutrient deficiency
