I pre-ordered two of the Area 51 LEDs. They're shipping out next week and I'm sooooooo excited for them to arrive.
Anyone else looking forward to them?

The only concern I have is the all-white LEDs. I thought more red during flowering was a good thing.... Anyone else have this concern, or am I just too much of a noob
I hope they work well for flowering!

:peace:

Maybe they will let us get a panel with compensating par spectrums that you were concerned about? ive heard there customer service is a+!

Yeah!
On their website they say "The spectrum of the 3500-4000k is a well balanced spectrum that does fantastic in flowering, and with 15% blue color, there's enough blue to do a good job vegging as well."

It seems that they emphasize it does a great job flowering... So i'm not too concerned, but I've just always heard "You want red lights for flowering".

Ive got a couple grow evolution panels im tryin out for the first time. Never ran anything but 600w hps so far.

Im runnin a comparison grow with them. got about 600w of leds forflower (more if i feel its necessary) so im hoping off just the 600 to get my usual/better yeild than my 600w hps. 300 in my veg tent. Might have to move that one into the flower just for pure LED fun.

they dont have too much white in them though. Mostly reds and blues with some ir/uv. and they use multilchips which are pretty cool haha.

check out the journal in my sig if anyone wants to check em out.

I'm using cree CXA3050 all whites (2700K) and so far my plant is flowering great and vegged great as well, so I have hopes the Area 51 all whites will do just fine.

i noticed they were all whites so sent an email about them and here is the response i got- just ordered mine

"Hello,
You are correct, the newest lights that we have are all white, full spectrum coverage from 400-770nm.
The spectrum is good for veg or flowering. In our testing, we used 1 unit per 32"x32" grow area, and the results are the best that we've seen to date.
Best Regards,
Jeff"

Exciting times for led growers who want to save $$$ on cooling hps/CMHs... while getting better results

My first led is a ufo 90 R/B with 660s and it's nothing to write home about. I also tried 660 tube in my hot5 8 bulb set up- same thing

<630nms provides 95% of PR that mj wants to flower, so I am confident that this panel will rock. 630 looks like a light pink. You could look for ZooMed Florosun graph for a better idea.

I would like to see it as a rectangle covering ~ 2 x 4, which would cover most apartment closets and small tents

2700, 3000, 3500 and 4000k spectrums all have heavy doses of red light and more blue as you get colder [bigger numbers]. Although the Warm whites do have some blue and green and yellow [this is how you essentially make white light, mixing colors]

No need to be concerned, Area 51 knows their shit, and makes great lights.
I have one of their older 3W model and it works great.
Each generation of Area 51 LED lights keeps getting better and better.

I can't wait. I have had the past few generations of A51 and as senior karma malo pointed out, each generation is getting better and the old ones are still pumping! And brother Jeff is always willing to respond to an email as long as you're not being a prick. I still have another week or two before my all white panel is ready for shipping, but I can't wait either!

Yeah I've heard great things about Area51 & spoke to Jeff a few times. he is a very nice bloke & Extremely knowledgeable about his LEDs, cant wait to see what his panels can do, maybe get lucky enough to test one on my forum. Loving the white theory aswell, makes perfect sense to blend all the 'needed' spectrums back into what plants see as natural light, white light. Best of luck on ya grow with this LED.
