No Brother You Dont Want Roots Growing Out The Sides Of The NP.What I Did Was Double Up On The Plastic Starter Cup.Then I Drilled 1/8 Inch Holes In The Bottom Their Will Be More Than Enough Holes For The Roots To Grow Through.The Most Important Thing About Your Upper Res Is That You Want It Light Tight.
