The Official House and Garden Thread

So what does that mean?
You are obviously not used to someone challenging your accuracy. I'm not here to cause a problem but there is probably a chance, just a slight one though i'm sure, that you could be wrong about some stuff, you should do some research before you answer peoples questions and give recommendations. Again, some of the info you have stated about House and Garden is just inaccurate. It's not a insult or anything - can't we all learn from each other here.

Well, professional gardener or not, some of the info was still not correct. I have been using the House and Garden line for over 10 years now with huge success. I have used every base nutrient formula that they offer and consequently every additive also. I am long time friends with some of the Reps that have worked there over the years and that has afforded me some industry intimacies that your average gardeners just do not have the opportunity to experience. That being said, I have used many different product lines within the industry but I have very thorough knowledge of the H&G product line specifically. So... I was poking around and found some things that were stated in a post that simply was incorrect, and in the spirit of helping to disseminate the proper info people, I corrected the incorrect info. NOT MEANT TO RUFFLE ANY FEATHERS OR OFFEND ANYONE. MAYBE TAKE A HIT AND RELAX.

While theres a few people here, Im using Soil A\B, Root Excelurator, Drip Clean, Top Booster. Are any of their other products useful? What about adding any other products, should I get some great white. I thought you could use that with synthetic soil grows?

Roots Excelurator Gold already has mycorrhizae in it so no need for Great White.

Start shooting us some npk numbers then. Would be real help full to this thread. Start with multi, then go bud xl. What do you mean Huge success? If your just a chart reader then this section might not be for you, as most of us threw those charts away like 11 years ago. Your not ruffling any feathers, your just pumping your resume which really doesn't impress around these parts. NPk numbers please....

Actually all I did was correctly answer some peoples questions, which was not done by your supposed "professional grower" that you seem the need to defend. You are the one, that more or less, asked for references or validation of my knowledge or whatever you want to call it. So.. not pumping my resume', just answering your question now. Seems like I hit a sensitive area here. BTW - Why are you asking me for NPK numbers? What kind of request is that? Is that supposed to "qualify" me in your eyes somehow? I thought these were supposed to friendly posts, not "you're full of crap" arguments.

Or...instead of making general statements like that what info in particular was not correct? I mixed up "shooter" and "booster"...boohoo, hurt my feelings clearly as my first reply showed  I posted a lot of stuff in this thread and I'm sure there are some flaws in it over the years, heck some of it is pure speculation, other info is straight from H&G. Let me know where I was wrong according to you, back it up with facts and I'll say 'thanks'.

I am long time friends with some of the Reps...
Credibility by proxy... you're kind of new to forums aren't you? Perhaps you should practice at grasscity first.

Says the guy screaming in caps.

Welcome to rollitup.

Seriously, if you got anything more to share than parroting marketing bs from your friends then share. I think H&G nutes are amongst the best, definitely my favorite, and I loved the Obey the swan comment... but their PK boosters for example, are as much bs products as those of Canna and nothing more than catering the uniformed cannabis growers. If you have a problem with that comment I know a great thread for you

Hopefully the H&G reps you know are more knowledgeable than the ones I know. The basic botany knowledge of my H&G acquaintances is pretty deficient. They seem to be good at parroting propaganda, but not much else. If I hear any one of them say "fall in a bottle" in reference to Top Booster again blood will be spilled...

Sativa you have any info on my question?
This one?

"I am buying some hg right now, i have their soil a + b plus their root acceleration..i was looking at getting a few things. Bud xl?.. whats good?"

Plants only need the essential elements that are in the A+B already. The rest is just... well, some can be handy. Like the multizen/multizym (differs per location...) for vegging but can be useful during flowering too. Need only a little, relatively cheap. My house plants love it too.

Using Drip Clean helps keep my sprayer lines clean but that's all. It's not a magic flushing product and I doubt you'd notice a difference on soil.

Bud XL may have some benefit on soil but little to nothing if you fertilize properly with A and B.

PK boosters are nonsense unless you have a PK deficiency. Something Canna started long ago and others followed the hype.

The shooter is weird stuff though. I can't deny it seems to have an effect. Strains with sativa/haze structures tend to foxtail and flower even longer. Can't recommend it really. Want more mj, get better genetics and apply canopy control. Run H&G AB 400-650 ppm from start to finish (low at start and end).

Root excelurator is a typical example of snake oil. Secret recipe at high price and need extremely little. I get the same root mass without it (easy to see in my hydro tubes) but healthier. A proper ratio of the basic elements already in AB is what keeps roots and plants healthy and vigorous. I've compared it to anti-aging skin cream before. It has a minuscule effect that gives it some scientific basis, same with the vitamins in Bud XL.

Add a little perception and you're a fan for a life. For example, if you use multizen heavily on top of AB you may get a too high N ratio, hence relatively too low PK, and then you add some Top Booster (PK boost) and within days notice an improvement. If you instead would have applied the AB in moderate ratios.... More isn't more when it comes to nutes and bottles of nutes. Balance is everything, and what those additives are good at is messing up the balance.

Magic Green works great (don't over use, don't use too soon, and not with light on). Almost as a good as some seaweed extract...

Top Booster fucking sucks. Unreal that shit is still on the shelfs. Roots excel i used for many many years tricked my mind into thinking i saw awesome shit. When really i had a good root system and thats all thats needed. I won't go on. My thoughts, Base is really nice, Drip Clean works great for me, and Multi Zen i love it, oh and sorry to say i love that shooting powder. And thats all i use. Actually some cal mag every once in a while.

This post is spot on.

Especially about shooting powder, fucking bizzar stuff. I don't like what it does to buds. It puts a fresh foxtaily coating of immature buds on your nice 6-7 week colas. It might increase weight but the bud looks like shit.

A&B in reality is all you need for a nice crop. Plants finish nice and green and happy.

I've run H&G in peat, RDWC, and coco. When I first started years ago I had an owner that insisted I use every product they had (follow the feed chart...). Over the years I steadily stopped using additives and amazingly my yields went up and my headaches went down...

That being said I love aqua flakes A&B.

The pics are a bare bones no additive H&G run.

So..obviously I came off i bit strong, I am not here to compete with you, just lend a helping comment once in a while. You are correct in that all I did was correct one word. But I figured that since you were referencing 2 different products - I just wanted to clarify for the person asking and I really was making no comment to you at all. I am not new to forums just have not looked around for some time. You have posted some very credible information but I do not totally agree with some of the MultiZen, Bud XL posts though. Those are enzyme and amino products that do not have much of an NPK. The NPK numbers on all of the H&G products are guaranteed minimum amounts instead of maximum amounts - not really sure why they did that, all it did was make people question even more. Real NPK for Zen is 0.4 - 0 - 0.8 and Bud XL is 0.5 - 0 - 0.2 . I saw a post that might not have come from you but it said that Multizen could create nitrogen toxicity, but with such a low N content, that can not really happen. It is such a nominal amount that they are taking them off of the bottle. I too have done more than a few runs with only Aqua Flakes and was able to get a very nice end product but my experiences have been the opposite of yours in that my quality got better when I incorporated the additives. And...not meant to come across as screaming, I just wanted to make sure the entire post was being read, that was the most important part. I like to relax. I have some Gorilla Glue #4 going now for the first run. I'm in week 4 flower and i cant wait to see how it turns out. Do you have any thoughts on that strain or any grow tips even though it is a fairly new strain?

I have noticed that Sativa dominant genetics are sensitive to PK levels in general, not just sensitive to Shooting Powder specifically. I found that if the levels of all of the PK products -Top Booster, Top Shooter and Shooting Powder - are cut in half across the board that the fox-tailing is minimal. Sometimes degeneration and sensitivity together can make for some frustration as well. It is all about the genetics.

Roots Excel Gold is a kelp based product and has a bacteria count over 20,000. A good high end tea will have a bacteria count of about 1000.
Roots Silver is non organic and has a bacteria count of about 3000, still pretty good, and will run the best in water systems. Snake oil it is not.
