if you read that 5-7 was at 3 k first pic anyhow enjoy but at 8 k to replace my lights I can build 3 rooms and equip them FULLY .560 watts or so from the wall. An oscilating fan is blowing from above for cooling and to create draft in the room. At the back of the diodes it gets to about 35C which is good i think. Without the fan 45C or so. 18 cxb1830s. 6 per slab. Driven at 700ma.

Yup cost per g is my value .as med grower .Grams per watt is a very deceiving figure. It all really depends on how long you veg for or the techniques you utilize. Monstercropping for example. You may calculate g/kwh. Total weight / Total electricity consumption thru your grow (with fans, air conditioner etc etc.) makes better sense to me.

At 5 lbs over 4000watts you are at .67 g/ watt.
If I get my 8 Oz out of the second one drying. It will put me at .72 g/watt.
So they are comparable.
I am hoping to get to 1-1.2lb out of my tent. Eventually.
which $180 de fixture did you choose? i might stop past an htg & pick up their basic 1k de fixture for a coworker & his wife to start a new hobby.Good LED lights are definitely comparable, slightly better than the best HID lights on the market in fact. I've seen journals of people pulling 1.5-2gpw with their LED setups. Then again, Heath Robinson has a journal where he pulled ~3lbs from a single 600w SE HPS vert grow.
It's just a matter of whether that is worth the extra cash, and that is going to vary depending on the grower and their particular circumstances.
My 1000w DE lights up a 5x7 area with ease. I'd have to spend ~$1200 to get enough LEDs to do what a $180 fixture does. The LED has better overall coverage and spectrum, however according to a variety of tests I've seen DE fixtures aren't too far behind.
The reason the DE is inferior to the LEDs is because the DE's spectrum and power diminishes as you move out from the center of the bulb's footprint. A good LED will cover the entire footprint evenly, each diode putting out the same amount of light and spectrum.
It's just a matter of what you're looking for in particular for your own situation. Some people have the money and are glad to spend it. Personally, I can't justify the price and I'm quite happy with my DE knowing full well it is a close second place.
That being said, LEDs prices are coming down quite a bit in the last few years. Eventually they'll be low enough for me to finally grab some, but for now I'm happy with the DE.

Two things.I get 5-7 lbs (strain related ) on 4000
454 = 2724 / 4000 = .686 x 454 =2724 / 3000 = .908
go back
thats 2 x 2k roomsI get 5-7 lbs (strain related ) on 4000
So your 5-7lb is from one 2k room?thats 2 x 2k rooms
