The scent of the goodies

I was thinking about this for a while now. I get the smell of the drugs I have experimented through my time on random intervals. Okay they might be similar smells but they come pretty close and suddenly startle me.

What triggered this post was while walking past someone house I took a smell of the air and it was the smell of a flower, but weirdly identical to that weird taste of the Ganesha blotters

This whole randomly smelling goodies thing started off with Cannabis. Some random plants or scents may give me a moments hint, just like a shadow or your hair blowing in the wind may seem like a person out of the corner of your eye... At that fraction of a second, they really do remind you of that symbolic taste you once had in your mouth

And finally I get that icky but still symbolically lovely taste of DMT somewhere in my sinuses sometimes, I have no idea where it comes from, but I rarely do get an almost identical taste/smell. Some industrial smells do the trick too.

Does anybody else get this effect? Its propably becuase they hold such a symbolic and well-remembered place in our minds that they get remembered. Weird how smells form memories so effectively... Read a book about it in neurology where a patient who had a giant tumour removed and turned into a vegetable was taken to his favorite rock concerts and just turned into a different person!

omg, yes tenner, yes.. and here i thought it was just me, lol.. i am a printer by trade, and at my last job i worked with some very nasty chemicals like methyl ethyl ketone, all sorts of acetate including normal propyl, ethyl and butyl, and all sorts of alcohol like denatured, iso, etc etc...
anyhoo's, i'd be doing something at work, and out of the blue, i'd get the biggest smell of something and it would totally make me think of cocaine most of the time.. not sure if it was something that the coke was cut with, or what the deal was, but every so often i'd get that strange smell in the air and it would totally make me think of it..
same with heroin, but it was less of a smell, and more of it would seem like i would get a drip, even though i haven't touched it in ten years this past may, and all of sudden i'd be tasting heroin out of nowhere... very freaky stuff indeed..
even sometimes the smell of burning matches will make me think of freebasing coke, the mind is a crazy organ, that is for sure.. they say more memories are attached with the sense of smell than anything else, and i tend to believe that.

The DMT one was kind of like a dry-drip for me.

lol sure it does.. i didn't even think of that one.. at my old job, we had a super negative air pressure to suck out all of the lovely chemicals we worked wtih, so the littlest odors from outdoors would manage to find their ways into our place... at least i'd say once a week or more we'd get that lovely skunk smell and everyone would be looking at me for some odd reason like i'm some huge pothead and stunk like bud when it was just a damn skunk, lol..

I'll also get an intense cigarette smell in my sinuses on occasion. I can almost taste it. God damned second hand smoke.

I can't really relate to you guys, cause I can't get the tasty drugs. I've done salvia though. So far, nothing has reminded me of that smell. It's horrible though.

actually i can find it extremely easy to determine a skunk from a skunk bud as theres a certain terepin that skunks emit that the nose can just pull out from the complex mix of smells it emits kinda like a calling card

but yes my reasoning would be that smells tie strongest to memory and say you walk by that industrial plant that is emitting something that isnt dmt but has the same smell profile of dmt wiht in the mess your nose is gonna pull that out of it and say hey theres dmt here lol

The smell of ether ... makes me wanna do mountains of blow !
And I do not really like to do blow all that much ...
More of a social thing ... once in a blue moon.

that was another chemical i used to work with at my place puffer.. maybe that is the one i'd get a nice whiff of once in a blue moon... i really loved the smell of butyl acetate though ... it didn't remind me of any drugs, just has the most lovely sweet smell to it, kinda like cam 2 racing fuel for cars, lovely stuff..

I have got a really strange one, not so much on the drug line, but interesting none the least.

Every once and awhile I will get a taste in my throat, and the only way I can explain it is it tastes like a spare tire rim.

It is insane to even say it, but that is what my mind comes up with. And yes I am stable and not just released from the mental institution. Not today anyway.
