The Science Behind ‘Cotton Mouth’

Hi Randall88, how is it going ?
Can I ask you if salagen helps with nose dryness too ?
I have been unable to get a prescription for salagen but I'm using the leafs of pilocarpus jaborandi.
On average one gram of leaf equals 5mg (0.5%) of pilocarpine (the main ingredient of salagen) .

I found here https://drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=231218 and
here http://outcoca.blogspot.it/2015/06/the-benefits-of-terpene-delta-3-carene.html that the terpenoid Delta3Carene is a
major culprit to the dry eye and mouth experienced by some marijuana users :

"Delta 3 Carene gives a calming feeling to aid in well being. This pine scented terpene can be found in rosemary as well as cannabis. Delta 3 Carene is so prevalent in marijuana that it is found in most strains.
Carene has been used as an antihistamine to help with reducing fluid. Some patients use strains high in Carene to help reduce perspiration or menstrual flow. Many patients can describe certain cannabis strains with a side effect of causing dry mouth or eyes. The terpene Delta 3 Carene is a major culprit to this effect."

I guess that less cedary and more fruity strains should be worth a try then :bigjoint:

Hey! It's much better, I can tolerate the side effects more and it does improve my saliva. Yes, it definitely helps with nose dryness too. Any dryness I would say :D
How strong and fast the effects of the tablet hit me after ingesting is always different. However after a good 'hit' I do have much more mucous in my nose.

How the hell did you manage to get your hands on the leaves ? I want some too :D

Some really good info on that terpenoid as well. Thanks for that.

You're welcome!
From what you told me... I can't wait to try salagen :D I will post my experience too asap.

I ordered the leafs from here http://www.officinaliserboristeria.it (an italian reseller), but I found leafs or powder on amazon too. idk about quality though because they don't ship to Italy  ...

I have found pilocarpus tea, or chewing some leafs to be quite effective for mouth dryness....not as much for the nose though... And of course it has the little side effect that at a certain dose you start sweating like a pig in a sauna ...

Actually it's a bit weird, as I thought pilocarpine is a chemically prepared substance and not natural..
This is the only thing I have found as well. Pretty expensive though :D

I found right now this two :
http://www.amazon.com/Jaborandi-Leaf-Whole-Wildcrafted-microphyllus/dp/B0032JZ9CA
http://www.pennherb.com/jaborandi-leaves-powder-1-oz-221p1

I'm trying to find if there's some recepy for an alcohol extract/concentrate so that I can go around with a little bottle to use 'as needed' ;). I have already tried to extract pilocarpine by 100C cooking in oil ( using a double boiler) .... it gave me tachicardia but none of the desired effects ( I heard that pilocarpine is higly volatile... ) .

I have found the recepy for extracting the pure pilocarpine from the leafs ( as it is done for salage and equivalent drugs ) but I don't have a Master degree in chemistry !
