No because im assuming once you start another layer after letting it dry...you remove the thread because it served its purpose in holding the shit together until it dried.
 
Damn, I haven't seen any thai stick in decades! I would think though, that most of the resin/oil used to coat the thing will have lost it's potency pretty quickly, being open to air and such. Long time ago I took a bag of compressed mexican weed and removed all the stems and then broke up all the buds to remove the seeds, so what was left could just be rolled. Within days it had lost it's potency

Or maybe it was mexican brick weed and it didnt have much potency to begin with.
