The Vault’s Skywalker Auto Comparative Grow - in association with Mephisto Genetics

So the 2 seeds I had that had a small Crack in them (from shipping ) didn't pop. I never expected them to really but I gave them a shot so I have 3 that popped and are out of soil. They're currently growing at a good rate faster than I'm use to anyway. I have them in 50/50 ffof the other half is my own soil. Under a 600w mh bulb at moment doing well nothing photo worthy yet. Updates to come

Maybe i'm being naive but why grow autoflowers? If the bud turned out bomb and you wanted to keep it around you can't.. correct? I have a whole bag of cheese autos that are great stuff but I can only grow them once so I don't see the point

Autos are not for everyone. If you have a major operation you will not want to grow auto's. But for the average home grower it is great to set your lights and everything stays the same for the entire grow and you get product in 78-85 days from seed. I have multiple tents so I understand where you are coming from. I like to pheno hunt and find some dank, clone it and have it around for a while. But for the average home grower, they are not worried about cloning. How can you clone with one tent for veg and bloom? So that is why auto's are so valuable to so many. For me, I like to keep a tent of autos growing all the time. Its just fun to watch how fast they grow and produce. And Mephisto's genetics are fucking fire. One of the best auto breeders around.

I agree i like to do photos so i can train them and see what i can get them to do but i am really stoked at a chance to give these autos a go. And yes setting these plants on auto to do their own thing is what interests me with them. Kind of intimidated by not having full contol over their growth as in height but just going to enjoy the ride and excited to see other growers show their skills along the way.

That's what these comparative grows are all about bro! When everyone gets going it will be a lot of fun. So many different growers with so many different methods, it really is a blast to see everyone doing their thing.

Well, kinda. I know that there were growers in the Alien x Triangle comparison that were doing all kinds of experimental things with their plants and had success at it; cloning may have been one of them. It was really cool seeing what can happen when people get creative with their plants and experiment with different growing techniques or implementing different ideas. I don't remember where I read this, it was a long time ago, but I read this article on how to clone or regenerate a plant with nothing more than a bud. You found this bud that you really liked and there were no seeds in the bag, so you took a bud out of the bag and you put it in a petri dish with this gel in it and then somehow the gel stuff would give you these spores and the spores would grow and Abracapocus you get a plant out of it. More than likely it was a "High Times" article, but I really don't remember where or when I read it.

I read the same thing in weed world magazine but that only works with photos. You try it with an auto and all you will end up with is a dead plant. Even with photos, it's not as smooth of a transition as the article would make you think. I have done regeneration of a couple plants and it is something to see. They produce leaves that look nothing like traditional pot leaves. They are mostly single finger leaves that are oval shaped with no serrated edges. I have taken clones from revegged plants but never flowered the revegged plants out.
