The virus is here folks!

I just wanna say that although I find some conspiracy theories interesting they are just that...a theory. I think many of these things that happen are allowed to happen. I don't think someone is doing this stuff on purpose.
Maybe. It's a theory after all--not yet "proven." But, to "whom" is the better question.
Little shocks me. This world is FILLED with "all kinds." Throw just a few "mad scientists" into that equation--scary thought.
I'm not one to believe that the government on a larger scale is really genuinely interested in "we the people."
And let's face it, "we the people"---generally speaking, can't even begin to handle the truth.

Keepin' my eyes on the happenings...hear about the 5.6 earthquake in Mexico? This must be a really be a difficult time for them.
The Stats:Mexico-2000 cases & 149 dead(most deceased were ages 20 to 50)
48 confirmed cases in five states in the U.S.
6 confirmed cases in Canada
2 confirmed cases in Scotland
1 confirmed case in Spain
Suspected cases in New Zealand, France, Germany, & Russia
This thing is moving quite efficiently.
Other known facts...
Can easily spread from human to human
Tamiflu has been effective so far(I think Tamiflu was designed to fight avain)
The virus was "cultured in a lab"
This could really be something, but it's gonna be at least another week before we know.

The bad part is that truth is always stranger than fiction.

Right. But your body can also adapt,if you allow it.It's like flexing a muscle. If you don't use it, it atrophies. If you use it,it gets stronger.
I don't get sick a whole lot because I usually tough it out when I'm sick. The thing is, you could have the worlds best immune system and still get a virus that kills you. Viruses change and mutate very quicky...They were one of my favourite topics in Biology.
Exactly. They use antibiotics in applications where they are not needed.
Hear hear. I've been telling people that for years... yet they go get more hopped up every year. Grabbing antibiotics every time they have a common cold.

You want sick? A few years ago I had the worse case of flu I'd had in my life... biggest fever, literally couldn't stand up, hallucinations, every fiber of muscle and every tendon and ligament ached like they were made of pain wrought from iron and stone, I was in bed unconscious in fever for over 4 days straight... almost 4 weeks to recover.

I survived that without antibiotics - and thats all the better for me this year. Bring it on...

And people wonder why I never get sick from colds and small shit. This is why.
And I don't think antibiotics are bad, just the excessive use of them, precisely because bacteria becomes resistant. If you have a hangnail that gets infected...hold off on the antibiotic. If there's something more serious you can't fight on your own, antibiotics are a good thing. That was the point I was trying to make.:peace:
Antibiotics are for bacterial infections...the flu is a virus.

And antibiotics do not weaken you immune system. I just got impacted wisdom teeth removed, and had to take penicilin, did I weaken my immune system? NO. Did I prevent a possibly horrible infection? Yes.

Humans in general using antibiotics causes bacteria to evolve to become antibiotic resistant, but there is no way around that.

I have read some say that they have an over active immune system and that may protect them, I have also read some think antibiotics can weaken an immune system...I am not an expert but I can tell you from my personal experiences, that neither are true.
When I was a kid I would get ear infections constantly. This resulted in taking constant antibiotics, because of this I am now allergic to all 'cillins' meaning if it has a 'cillin' at the end of its name, it will kill me. So the antibiotics didn't weaken my immune system but it developed a reaction to them, which now limits me on what I can take when I need them....I have been diagnosed with an 'over active immune system' at first I thought this was a good thing. It is not. My body is so confused all the time. If I get a simple scratch on my arm it will turn into problems pretty fast. My body thinks a simple scratch is a gaping wound so it will over compensate and produce massive amounts of skin cells in a few days. It causes major problems and pain.
So, I don't think either of these things are true. And, if you have been diagnosed with an overactive immune system, research it and see what your future can hold, it is not a good thing..Atleast not in my case.:peace:

Hey Sonny :-)
I'm betting that you and I have the same "condition." And when you say that your body is confused all of the time, I assure you I get that wholeheartedly.
Yes, I have an overactive immune system. By no means was I attempting to say it was a "good" thing. That was likely my way of looking at the bright side of things..sigh. The truth is, I rarely get "sick"...so to speak (as in the way another would typically.) It's very hard to explain because I could take it in so many directions. Simply put though, I just don't get colds basically ever. Sniffles occassionally, yes...but that's typically due to pollen and things of that nature. Yet, when I DO get "sick"...like those with a "normal" immune system might, I truly believe I likely get it tenfold. I've had that flu with all the exact symptoms Stoney was speaking about. I seriously thought I was dying. I had actually become delerious and was lying in bed in so much pain. I only remember just feeling like my body was convulsing and I was weak beyond reproach. I was READY for some antibiotics!!! I ended up having no choice but to go to a clinic due to this being at a time where the flu was rampant and it was all but impossible to get an actual appointment. I don't even know how I actually made it to this place via driving....phew, another story. When I did get there, they told me they were just "too filled up" to even see me. (AFTER I had just called them to confirm I was on my way!!!) The assholes said I didn't get there soon enough. OMG, I just about passed out right then and there. I sat down right there on the floor and cried, LOL......I can laugh at this NOW. Did that mean they took the time to treat me? Nope. So, I somehow picked myself up and found myself in the parking lot with everyone staring at me asking me if I was alright....truly embarassing. Someone pointed out that the emergency room was in "walking distance." Pffffft, little did he know that walking one foot for me was likely like running 100 miles continuously at 10 mph for him....and that doesn't even begin to describe it. Just as soon as I got to the emergency room, they were all over me.....Thank God.
So, I do believe that antibiotics can be a very good thing.
Ironically, I too am allergic to penicillin, doxycillin....all antibiotics in that family. Penicillin was probably the number one antibiotic prescribed while I was growing up. I wasn't allergic to it then. It's interesting to see how you and I both have negative reactions to them now.
Levaquin....another antibiotic I'm just disgusted that's even on the market!!! I had a very young doctor prescribe me Levaquin for BRONCHITIS....way too strong a prescription for that. IMO, something like that should only be used as a last resort. I ended up going numb in various parts of my body and having severe pain in my back. This was from only 3 days of treatment and I was to contiune it for several more days. Needless to say, they were flushed.
Taking that levaquin also makes me recall that while going numb, I had been heating something in the microwave. I took it out of the microwave and began eating. It was too cool for my taste, so naturally I picked it up to re-heat. I jumped back immediately and dropped that bowl. It was actually scorching hot.....I replaced that microwave btw. I kid you not my hand was badly burned. I had HUGE blisters that just would not stop stinging INTENSELY on most of my finger tips. The only way I could make it through the night was to keep my hands on ice. If I took them off for even a tenth of a second, I was in some pretty excruciating pain....and I'm not one to complain too much about pain mind you. Even on ice, it was torture. So, getting to the point (I'm really good at being too wordy, sorry)---That hand took NO time at all to heal. It was WILD. Only a week later, it had just miraculously disappeared. It was just amazing from day to day how it was healing. Personally, I attribute that to my 'overactive immune system.'
Antibiotics can be good and they can be very, very bad. I will not ever let my son be prescribed them unless he is extrodanarily sick. To me, it just makes no sense to use them otherwise.
Some like to go natural and use something like Echinacea. I can't use that. It works against my immune system. Well, at least that's what the "experts" say.
Considering I've lived as many years as I have and have only had 2 cases of the flu.....definitely something to be said about that.
There's much to be studied regarding antibiotics safety. It's tragic that humans are the guinea pigs. :peace:

Babs, I enjoyed reading your post...:)

The 23month old baby that died, what a shame...Makes me very sad.:(
I read or heard, that there are 2 more deaths in the US that may be from the flu...Has anyone else read this, and if so, what state is it in?

The prob with anti-biotics is that because people don't use them right, they help create super-bugs. If your doctor tells you to take anti-biotics for 14 days then take them for 14 days and not a day earlier. When you stope at 7 days the bacteria is still in your system and because you stopped taking the anti-biotics too soon, it comes back with a vengance. Try looking up the MRSA bug. It kills more people in america then the Aids Virus.

It seems with all the virus's, bacteria, and chemicals that are getting stronger and more wide-spread it seems like it's only a matter of time until one catches up to you.

If this was after the flu was announced then where the hell are his parents heads? There were some mexican exchange students who were complaining that their parents couldn't come to Canada because of the flu and I flat out told them if they were allowed to come then I would fight to keep them in Mexico. If you're missing your folks then go back to Mexico, it's not reason to put millions of people in danger.

I had Mrsa once.Got it from my brother.Tea tree oil will kill it.
I did do the round of antibiotics, though, cuz it was on my chin and I didn't want a scar.

There is a difference between bacteria and virus's, anti-biotic's are for bacteria they would not help at all with this virus.
