The waiting game sucks

On Saturday my girls will be 6 weeks into flowering, but it seems like not much is happening with them. The buds have gotten a little bigger, the pistils are starting to turn color and the fan leaves are yellowing, all normal stuff. Should I be expecting more or is this it? What should I be looking for at this stage and what is the next stage? Harvesting?

This is it.... How large the buds get depends on environment, nutrients and genetics. Some folks flush before harvest.

So at this point, it's just a question of the buds fattening up and harvesting when the pistils are mostly reddish and shriveled?

depends on your strains flowering time. light, nutes, and environment all plays big role. If 6 weeks in, sounds like they have at least 2 more weeks to go, and with proper conditions they will fatten up the last two weeks of flowering.

Yea, I know what you mean, When they are seedling its exciting to watch how fast they grow, Going into flower is always cool to watch the transformation. When they are budding you get to see trichs form and pistils turn but after a month and a half of that it gets old. Now its just time to watch them fatten up and gain weight.

Pics as requested. They sure are potent smelling. It's a good thing my kids are relatively young and have no clue (I hope). The last few days they have become very pungent indeed. These are the best pics of them I've ever taken. I lost the main cola 2 weeks into flowering due to an accident. But I'm very pleased with how they are doing. The pics don't show it, but there actually are many more reddish/brown hairs than there appears. She has a sister who is about 2 weeks behind I would say. Nice main cola with LOTS of buds.

wow she looks nice, i not really the one to give advice on late flowering like this but i just wanted to give ya props on some nice looking buds, damn there frosty, but from the pics i would say she has a little while before shes ready.

you may get a couple of little bud spurts, But judging from the pics I'd say the growth is pretty much done on the most part. Most of the time now willbe spent on the buds getting stronger (trich developent & such).

anywho, the last 2 weeks is when they really start to bulk up on resin and bud formation!
p.s you shouldnt determine ripeness upon pistils. trichs is the thing you should put under the scope

Thanks everyone for the comments. They are coming along nicely. As a matter of fact, I took a small bud from one of the bottom branches last night and well, to say the least, it's good. I've actually been smoking from it for a while now as I trimmed it and took the weaker stuff off and it's been getting me high for the last month, but last night was definitely WAY better than it's been. The strain is Nirvana AK 48. I think it was a blessing in disguise that I lost the main cola, because I now have 6 main colas basically. Like I said she has a sister with a main cola and two side branches that have TONS of buds. I can't wait to see what my yield is gonna be. I definitely think Canon is right about the growth being done because they haven't changed much as far as size, over the last week, maybe a tiny bit bigger but, yep at this point that plant just is maturing. Though I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I'm thinking by 03/12 she should be ready for chop, probably a little sooner. I have to look up how to check the trichs for ripeness and what to look for but will definitely give that a shot.

You should subscribe to my grow journal, but I'll post harvest pics and update here too.

The best thing, and also the hardest lesson to learn about growing is patience. Plants definitely lok very nice, but DO NOT rush cutting. It will be the biggest mistake you can make. The buds lok nice now, no denying that, but give them at least two more full weeks, preferably four, and you will see a very noticeable difference in size, and more importantly, quality. If the breeder claims it has an 8 week flowering time, that means a minimum of 10 weeks, probably more like 12 weeks. Those are merely recommendations and are based on optimum growing conditions, which very few people attain. Patience is the key, and it's a hard lesson to learn, but the payoff is more than worth the extra time.

Oh, I absolutely will wait at least two more weeks, unless the trichs show otherwise, but I'm not sure 4 will be possible. They are very potent smelling and it's actually becoming a bit of an issue. She has a sister, so even if I take the one in the pics in 2 weeks, the other plant I will definitely let go longer and do as you suggest with it. I would love to see what it looks like at that late stage.

I just check the trichs this morning with my magnifying glass and all of them are still clear even though there are quite a few red pistils, so I guess the waiting game continues.

Damn a person that can't wait while their girls are doing their best to give the best smoke they every had. DAMN YOU WAIT

I hated waiting so Much I decided to harvest every week, And It worked lol....Now I don't wait any more
