The WHITE WIDOW club, Show off your grow

Hi there, I don't think its such a bad idea to turn them down now, my widow quadrupled in size you can check my journal if you want to see what 12/12 can do to them... They got really really tall..... And at the size yours are now, they will be huge in 11 weeks....:-)

just been through your grow lacey - wow girl, looking sooo good. Now this is my first try and im thinking that id really rather wait for more veg time in order to get a bigger harvest - but going by what i have seen with the big bang now would be a good time for her - but i don't want to ruin my widows yield by going too early.

Lacey i know yours are in hydro and mine soil but how much veg time did you give yours?

and what do others recommend?

Three weeks, and I reckon its too long... Once I turned them down, I swear I could hear them growing, it was sooo fast... 7-10 days is what I am planning for next time... Depending what I grow, if I grow Rhino I will veg for 3 weeks, Widow, will be the much shorter aforemention time...:-)

I dunno, but if my NL looks anything like any of yours Ill be a happy farmer.

And Big ups to the White Widow Club!!! Havnt read the whole thread, YET! gimme a seconed.

hi there guys - i got a couple of seedsman white widows in my grow room - vegged under 63w cfl's for 4 weeks then under 600w HPS dual spec bulb for the last week, any idea when best to switch to 12/12? height is no issue (2m tall room) but i have a 2 month old Big Bang in with them that is screaming for the chance to grow her flowers!

All are in biobizz allmix mixed with John Innes No3 & perlite.
Fed on Biobizz Grow only so far and Brita filtered tap water ph'd down to 5.5ph.
Temps are 25-29c lights on - 16-20c lights off.
DIY carbon filter linked to 1 in-line fan at 107m3/h and 1 bathroom ex.fan at 72m3/h (not ideal but can live with it at the moment especially if i switch my lights on period to through the night once i switch to 12/12).
Also have the same weaker type fan pulling cool air into the room, and an ocs.fan moving the air around.

In the pics are the three togather and my tallest WW on her own.

Your ph'ing your water way too low. 5.5 is for hydro. Ph to 6.3-6.8 if you must do it.

Your guess is as good as anyones. Id ask some people what each strain smells like and then try to deduce which is which from that, but even then different breeders WW, and NL will likely smell different.

My NWW smells like pine tar, yet others say theirs smell lemony. GL.

Wow! I finally read this whole thread, 155 pages, in the time my white widow clone has been vegging, about 3 weeks. Lots of good info and beautiful plants here! Ill post some pics of my grow tomorrow.

Your not wrong about the thread mate - i still have only read about half if that and theres so much interesting informarion - stayed up too late reading it last night and have pulled a sicky off work so i can read some more today!! oh and to swap my fans around and try to lower my temps!

Hi Everybody!

This will be my fifth crop, I have always applied common sense to everything I do but I have to say that growing pot has definitely its own learning curve. My three first crop were somehow deceiving (not WW), I was then very happy to enjoy the payout with my last WW crop. From 5 plants, we yield about 10oz. Danky, very potent and with a lasting high, less harsh than piny strains. We also see that a bowl last longer, I mean you get more for your money!

I'm 3 weeks into flowering and my ladies look really good to me, lots of flowers, and healthy plants. However, due to the flowering room being 8'x10', space is a problem. I only have 2 600W in the flowering room. I have about 18 plants of which 10 are WW. I also must have 2 different strain of WW. One is indica dominant, very bushy, lush with huge fan leaves while the other one tend to be more leggy, less foliage and thiner leaves, probably sativa dominant. The problem is that the sativa dominant are at least a feet and a half taller than the indicas, I must then keep my lights higher and that might be a negative for the rest of the crop. Another problem I have is that the plants are so bushy that few lumens get to the lower part of the plants, last time I had only 5 plants so it wasn't an issue (see previous post).

The other 8 plants are a cross of TW with something else and are max about 3 feet tall. I have those on a table to compensate the light. This strain has been a pain in the ass since the beginning and now I rather focus on the WW. Even if it smoked pretty good, the WW is definitely more potent. One thing that I learned with this strain in particular is that they grow better when transferred in flowering stage with 18 to 24" max. In my debut, they were like 40" and I would have believe that the bigger is the plant, the bigger is the yield but I can say now that this is not true.

I just read an article about prunning and topping in Urban Garden and I wonder about the facts. I recognize the importance of having an even canopy and that topping and pruning must be the solution. Unfortunately, I guess it is too late to do something for those in flower. My next crop is in veg (3 weeks from cuttings), and I wonder what should I do to improve my future canopy. Should I start now to trick the plants? should I wait? what are the most recommendable actions to take?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Cheers:bigjoint:

You already have your TW on a table. Why not get another table for the shorter WW? If you dont have any more tables, just get some books, or milkcrates. Anything to raise them up. Or just put all your shortest plants in the middle, and tallest on the outside. The shorter ones get more light in the center of the lights footprint, while the tall ones still get decent amounts due to their height.

Since you are growing from cuttings, I would either choose the sativa dom moms or the indica dom moms. Whichever one gives you the more enjoyable high. Problem solved with height issues :)

If i had to guess, the second one looks like the Widow(middle one). It should become more aparent as the flowering progresses. Keep an eye on the trichs. Out of your strains, it should be the one that finishes last.

Thanks for your comment Dave, any suggestion for topping and pruning?

Could anyone confirm if these husks shown in the picture are stamina flowers or just regular future buds... Thanks
