There is an App For That

Dru,

It really isn't that expensive to grow once you have all your equipment, but it takes a while for that initial investment to pay for itself. You also have to keep in mind that this the sort of business where you can utilize economies of scale to reduce your production costs. On this sheet I'm basing my examples on a 6 plant grow thats getting less then 2 oz per plant, but with the lights I used I could easily increase that to a 10-12 plant grow and double the total yield. Sure, my costs for nutes would go up a bit, as would my labor, but it would still cut my cost to grow each gram by at least 30% because all the fixed costs (like rent) are the same no matter how many plants you grow.

You also have to look at what it costs you to grow compared what it costs your to buy, and no matter how I run the numbers it works out to cost at least 75% less to grow then it does to buy. Remember, this grow sheet includes things like rent and labor which really aren't something you wouldn't normally factor in unless your growing for resale. Remove those two expenses and your cost drops down to $25/oz or less (which is better then 90% below retail prices), which makes growing your own a no brainer from a personal use standpoint.
