paranoid. even if they did pick up the heat signature, its not like they would even get suspicious. some people run things in their house that put off 10x that heat.

and its illegal for cops to do FLIR on houses without a warrant. and if they can get a warrant to FLIR your house, your already fucked.

You shouldnt worry. people get away with running 1k watters illegally. a 250watt cfl is nothing trust.

I doubt that they can pick up any CFL's even if you have them as every light in your house....Wait, they are trying to get rid of incandescent bulbs and make everyone use CFL's. They run so cool I find it hard to detect it unless you run hundreds or thousands of them. It takes a butt load of them to get even near one 1000W HID in terms of heat.

F.L.I.R. cameras cannot see through walls, they can only see heat being exhausted from or a room from which it gets so hot that the walls actually exhaust heat as well or end up absorbing the heat, this would need a very heavy duty setup with
probably more than one, 1000watt lamp, at that point you would need to worry especially about your electric bill, other than that one alone, 1000watt cooled lamp probably could never be spotted anything lower i wouldnt worry about at all, my hdtv produces more heat than my lamps.

if anything just make sure that if you are getting excessive heat that you need to disperse it throughout your home, never disperse it outside and if you are forced to try to find a way to have it exhausted under the houses foundation instead.
fans and well ventilated areas eliminate the F.L.I.R.'s ability to see, it can only detect very high amounts of heat that is usually concentrated in one area and is not being vented properly.

if your paranoid you should get on youtube and watch how to never get busted, this man is a ex-narcotics officer who has busted hundreds of people and made a dvd that will teach you every tactic the police use to enter your home as well as all the tools they use if they happen to suspect your doing illegal things, he also covers traffic areas for getting pulled over all very informative information.

also just a tip the police also have handheld F.L.I.R cameras that can be used while on patrol, a chopper is the least of your worries unless your growing at a factory rate, in a factory itself or on that large of a scale.

another important thing to know about the police is they can and very much will break the law to achieve what they want if they have any suspicion. trust me they will lie, threaten you, they can even go as far as to say they will plant drugs on you just for a bust to break you down mentally, they are trained to lie and manipulate plain and simple. they in no way will be held responsible in court or would ever be issued a fine for breaking their side of the law, so dont ever get that twisted and think throwing around your knowledge of rights will save you, many are assholes enough that is why they became police in the first place and they could not give a shit what you know.

in court a cops word will always be above yours even if you provide the most legitimate proof, they will still walk away and you will end up in jail or a huge fine. rodney king is a pretty extreme example of how police never have to pay for breaking the law.
everyone one of those officers clearly seen in a video breaking the law, walked free as could be without a worry in their minds.

they have the power and will abuse it by all means if its something they really feel its worth doing it for.

unfortunately this is true but there is a positive side to this a friend of mine got busted with 174 plants running 4 1000 watters on light movers he had c02 i mean the works he also had 14 pounds of dried marijuana on him at the time of the arrest. this is way WAY over the federal limits and in my state as well he actually spent a few nights in jail got bailed out and he got a lawyer. his lawyer actually found out they where there on a noise complaint and NOT drug related this simple fact got him off the hook with 18 months probation and some healthy fines but no jail time whatsoever. so in actuality they better have a dam good reason for invading your privacy or you WILL walk. to get a search warrant they have to get it sighed by a judge and have physical credible evidence like selling, possession or something of that nature and when i say possession i dont mean caught with a pipe i mean like 16+ ounces not a F.L.I.R. recording either lol thats the least of your worries 90% of the time its those people you think are you good friends that end up getting those pesky pork choppers warrants sighed. keep to yourself and you will be just fine with no worries.

It seems very easy to assume we are all americans living in america... This isn't accurate so it's not wise to tell someone it's illegal for the police to flir your house wihtout a warrant unless you know where they are. we get helicopters scanning the neighbourhoods every day, every house.

As to the effectiveness of their cameras, well in the UK they recently tried to raid a professional (as in a real world professional, not grower) because their camera spotted a hamster heater in his garage. They sent officers around and tried to talk their way inside the house and as such into "hey, do you smell that!?!" :D

heat readings and electricity usage doesn't mean SHIT. My flatmate has a small heater for his desk, it uses over 3x the amou/nt of power as my 600w hps and puts out insurmountably more heat.

somehow i do not believe he got off so light handedly unless your friend is just rich out of his ass and can afford bail immediately and has a really expensive lawyer to save his ass for times like this, in most cases most do not and the outcome will be greatly different, even if he did people like mark emery for christ sakes are sitting in prison right now for less of a crime than this supposed friend has committed. so i just really cant even imagine that actually happening. the maximum amount of plants that you might possibly be able to walk away with is something under 40 or 30 dead on, your friend had way more than that and that is suspicious and any normal person especially police or a judge would know he is selling, because you yourself, 1 individual would never need to grow that many plants just for yourself so even by your means of explanation of prosecuting a person the story does not make sense, simply because of a noise complaint counter? seriously, that just sounds like bull no offense.

i mean they found 174 plants on him. a noise complaint brought up by lawyer at that stage would be completely meaningless, if that was the cause then it even sounds more odd, because the police do not enter your house for a noise complaint they just knock on your door and tell you to keep it down if anything they sit at the door and talk to you, if he was throwing a party then yea they will come in and check for minors but the fact that no one even thought why does this one guy need so many plants and what he is doing with them makes this story seem like a fairytale.

i do not know where your friend lives but he must live in a state where its very much so legal, to walk away with something like that.
