Thats cool. I know so little about these 2 light systems but space isn't an issue here. I have lots of space.
With a regualr ceiling is a 1000 watts too much?

I don't want to start hydro now but I'm not against trying anything new. (growing that is)
hahaha yeah we did. :D

I have a 400w MH and a 400w hps. I have small space so heat is a real problem for me. I don't have room for both but i plan on moving in like a year so i decided to get both and i just switch them when i go from veg to flower and vice versa for a new grow.

i don't suppose it would be possible to convince you to try hydro...would it?:blsmoke:

hps & mh put out a LOT of heat so for a 1k watt i would still recommend good ventilation even in a large space. i don't know how much they put out since i don't own one but if they're like my 400w it'll be enough to easily fry your plants if you don't pay attention to it. If you do have good ventilation and keep an eye on that sucker then a 1k hps can be your best friend. then comes the question of how many plants are you gonna grow? if it's all of those 39 seeds you might need that 1k watt light.

actually i changed my mind. stick with soil for now. since you're getting new hardware, if you have plant problems with it and plant problems, at least in soil you'll know how to fix the plant problems quickly. so there'll be less things to worry about.

Lacy, first off you need to figure out how many plants you want to grow and how you want to grow them. If you only want to grow like 10 plants then 1,000 watts is to much. It will not hurt, but is a waste of electricity. you can grow 10 plants easy under 600 watts. Right now I only have a 400 watt with (8.) 43 watt cfl's for side lighting. If you do the math 400+(8x43)=744. I do very well with this set up, but I would do much better with less money out of pocket to the power company once I change over to a new 600 watt hps light. I think if I was to need 1K+ of watts, I would go with two 600 watters so I could spread the light out some.

Bubblerking, it looks like you are going SOG. Which as I understand will spread out few plants over a wider area, useing that light more efficiently. I am truely thinking of giving that a try.

BK how many weeks have you geen in flower? Also,, you have a few branches that are reaching a lot higher then the others. I thought this is what you should try not to happen. Is this true? You top a lot, and LST a lot right?? or what?? I have never tried SOG. but is sounds very nice

BubbleKing, I do not know how to word this, with out being insulting. Bubbleking, you are not useing those nets correctly, or the lights.. the two go hand in hand. Also, I am hoping I miss understood, But you said "No I have a mother plant I veg under 1,ooo watts".. WTF!!!!!!!! I am sure you get great buds, WOW,, your cost per gram must be higher then most,, maybe not most but at least higher then mine.. No includeing this Harvest here.. that is what is PISSING me off about this grow I am in.. Bubble king, your plants are stretching and not very dense and full for that net system. What do you think you are doing wrong? How is it that I get way fuller plants with way less watts? This I can not understand. I was really thinking of moving up in watts, but not if that is what I will get. BubbleKing, I am so very sorry about the rude Burn, But I need to ask these questions. You are a cool DUDE, and I am sure you grow great buds.

im yeilding 2 lbs every 60 days off of one 1000 watter and have yeilded 2 pounds and 13 ounces before off of one 1000 watter all DWC. It all comes down to healthy plants brand new light bulbs every round vegging 24hrs in the begining lots of co2 having no bugs at all knowing when to feed your plants and how much fert your plants can take in different stages of there life and one other thing changeing your resivor often i change mine every 5 days and most of all having perfect climate control theres a lot of hydrophonics systems out there the trick is knowing how to get the most out of your plants and your equipment hope this helps some of you peeps

Sorry for my flash burn. I have to remember that most people in here grow for quanity.. I grow for Quality. You have a lot of plants, but they are strestching and do not look very dense. Different strokes for different fors.. But who am I to stick my words out there.. They look weak and streched now. You are 6 weeks or so from harvest and in this time you mioght be able to have me eat my words. People grow dirrerently and get the same product in the end. It is just that what you have now, is what I (not have). My plants are full and thick, but then light is harder to get down inside,, this is why I hand thos 43 watt cfl's all over the place.

Lord DB, WTF is a bubble bag???? I'm tickled that you saved your plant; that cola is HUGE!!!

Bubble bags are a series of different sized siffting bags that fit inside each other, that you fill with ice and water, and then the clippings from your bud, and the weaker pop corn buds to make a really good hash.

Ahhhhhhh... I saw that on youtube or on Jorge Cervantes Ultimate Grow DVD!! That was amazing. I haven't seen any of the bags around but I bet they are expensive.

WOW.. This statment of mine just might be incorrect.. I will see.. I bought a 1,000 watt HPS. fan cooled light. It is cheaper to run then my 400 wat HPS really.
