A true friend, who knows your circumstance, should only want the original amount invested back. Maybe a 6 pack o' beer. I wouldnt want profit, if it kept u from living in my bassment. But, 30% sounds right

This is true. However, I would personally want to pay that friend back with interest anyway. One of my friends gave me some Green Crack/Mango plants that getting crowded in his veg room. I'm giving him 1/4 of the harvest whether he wants or needs it. If he tells me to keep it, hey, at least I was stand up enough to offer with sincerity.
