Think i have leaf miners, will capsaicin spray work?

Pretty straightforward. I have something munching on my leaves. Not too bad at first, but he's obviously gone and told his buddies where some sweet leaf is at BC its getting a little worse. I'd like to stop it as soon as I can so I was thinking of making a capsaicin tincture or concentrate. I know it kills spider mites, but how affective is it with other pests? I would assume it works well. Was also thinking of using neem oil afterwards for pest maintenance.

What types of pests do these things take care of? I'm on my way I'll post pics soon.

The spray made with chili peppers (Cayenne, habañero) is what I'm talking about. Figured someone would have used this before. I saw the Indian dude (grizzly?)'s recipe on here, his is like a one time batch, tho. I saw a thread on here with directions to make a concentrate but I can't seem to find it, for some reason my search function on the website is buggy when I'm hopping online from a mobile device.

i got miners too but i just grab them and smash them

making a capsaicin tincture or concentrate? watch out that you don't draw Mexican leaf munchers . LOL

I still have yet to see a single bug on any of my plants, but now I am definitely thinking leaf miners. Gonna go snap a quick pic.

Here's what I'm seeing. Have noticed a few little spots here and there but after blast night its starting ton get a little out of hand, definitely gonna try something today

Leafminers leave little white squiggly lines on your leaves.

You have something munching on them.


I've seen damage similar before from carpet beetles.


Could be worth while investing in a hot shots no pest strip.

The vapour released from them is toxic to pretty much everything including you.


But it should kill whatever's munching.


Usual suspects for leaf munching are carpet beetles, vine weevils, Japanese beetles, caterpillars.

agreed that it's definitely not leaf miners. I would not recommend using no pest strips for anything. They are extremely toxic. your spray might work idk tbh. I use pyrethrum, it's alot less dangerous to people and it still works well. bti works reasonably well on catapillars and a few other commonpests, and neem oil is pretty good as a repellant. hth

If you havent seen bugs on the leaves then its probly not bugs. Maybe some issue with spraying the leaves with somthing?

hhhm... ninjas point just made me realize that no one is sure what the damage is. I zoomed in on the leaves and i cannot see anything that even remotely looks like leaf miners. what i assume is the damage, is the leaf edges on the top part of your plant looks like it was chewed/cut off. so i guess i should ask if you've been trimming burnt edges off your leaves, or is that the damage you were referring to? or are you talking about the shiny spot that looks like a dried water drop or a slug trail?

Wrap stem with copper tape and some tangle foot above. That keeps slugs, earwigs and cutworms off. Make sure there are no leaves they can reach to climb up if in soil. Spray with Bti..

Anyway, any more specific diagnosis for this? Wondering about using azamax, spinosad or safer insecticidal soap. Thoughts?

Right now Im fighting caterpillars and a handful of spider mites with habanero spray. Ive been using habaneros so much on all my veggies, fruits and cannabis that Ive started to grow a dedicated raised bed just for them. I basically just copied the method here on this site. I put about 5 or 6 large habaneros per two cups of water and soak them on the stove in super hot but not boiling water. When you spray this stuff PLEASE be careful, I learned a huge lesson the first time. Now I wear big sunglasses, a shirt tied over my mouth and a long sleeve shirt. Be careful not to be downwind or youll be coughing in the most unpleasant way. So far I cant see any mites or caterpillars since ive begun treating them, but I know they are still there so I stay on it
