Flush! Flush! Flush! And make the last one with a H2O2 solution so you don't drown the roots. If it would be easier, you could re-pot instead, but still flush with plenty of fresh water. Oh, and by flush, I mean water should be flowing out of the bottoms of the pots. For the gnats: Use permethrin to kill the adults and treat the soil with imidacloprid to kill the larvae.
