Thinkgrow model I vs bar style leds

Title basically says it, looking to try leds gonna need 8-10 to cover my room. I have two 5x20 rows to cover. Not loyal to any brand, been kinda skeptical of led being able to outyield my double ended lights. But it’s either more ac or new lights. I’m getting between 3-4# off my double ended hps but my 36k btu mini split struggles to cool them all on 1150. I am also short a couple ft of coverage on my rows as I only able to cover 5x18 with 3 de fixture.

I am looking at a few fixtures, loriflux 8 bar because of the price (875 per fixture)and other peoples results. But the recently I’ve been looking at the think grow model I. Price is 860 on those maybe a little cheaper if order 10 instead of 8. I have also thought about a few other fixtures but haven’t found any deals on them and not sure what my store can do as far as deals. The mammoth 10 bar also seems like a great light, growers choice 680 can be had super cheap, growers choice 720 looks nice as well.

Also can’t believe they made the list but Mars hydro seems to have stepped up their game. With the sp6500 seems to have great specs and parts.

or just get more ac and add more de lights, could add ac to 3 rooms, lights and another Anden for about the same price as 10 leds

impressive yield. Dunno if you can get 4lbs out of 600W that's 3.0g/w.

I'd lean towards the 720 if you want to get near the yield. Definitely will spend less watts. You could also go to 8 lights if the headroom permits.

I’m averaging a bit over 3 now, have only hit the 4# one time. Got another mono crop of same strain going now to see if I can do it again. And yeah I wasn’t thinking would get the same yield per fixture, but I could run 10 -600ish watt leds or 8- 700 ish watt leds and still be around the same watts.

I really don’t mind paying for more electric, I am still considering adding another mini split and more de lights to each room. I just hate to have more mini splits setting behind my building. I live in a lake house type community, it’s rural, but still have neighbors and it’s gonna look kinda fishy to have 4-5 mini splits. I mean it’s legal so I guess I don’t care, but they are always trying to change the caregiver laws so it might not be legal forever, lol.

@bk78 any thoughts, I know you rocking the Meijiu or however it’s spelled. I hit them up on Instagram for a quote, hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I am kinda worried about ordering from overseas as I did that with double ended cmh that turned out to be trash and the warranty would have been good if the shipping didn’t cost more than the ballast. But I’ve seen you and few people killing it with Alibaba lights.

it seems the shipping has gotten so high and other prices are coming down so if you had to do it again would still order same lights? It Meijiu which ones are the best in 600-700 watt range?

i harvested a few weeks ago. Hit over 3# a light under each 650w led. its those MJ650s from Meijiu.

i did have some bud rot in my biggest nugs. i guess they were just too dense cause my airflow was on point. or it couldve been my humidity spiking to almost 70% at lights off. my vpd was on pt throughout.

also didnt have too much color on the exotic. there was some purple... but mostly stayed green.

i dropped the temps and humidity a few degrees compared to last run. gonna see if that gives more color and eliminates the bud rot.

weight was on point basically but quality was avg/below avg. it had everything else though.... it reeked had lots of resin and stickiness. smoked very well too.

I’ll always buy from Meijiu

Shipping is the same as it’s been since my first order 4 years ago.

Still works out to almost half the price as “USA” assembled with the exact same Shenzhen components

I stopped giving led help since the HLG nut huggers always come in droves at any Chinese led thread.

What were your temps at? Were they a strain you had grown before? Did they turn out better under hps?

I’m not a fan of HLG. I’m pretty sure even their 12-1300 dollar light don’t come with jacks for a controller. I think you can add one but shouldn’t have too for that price. I had some quantum boards when they first came out, V1. I also don’t like that they tried to claim a 480 (named 550 for some reason) watt quantum board was equal to a 1000 watt hps. Then when they went to 600 watt lights they claimed those were equal to 1k hps. Now 50 more watts (maybe, the fixture says 650 anyways) is supposed to be equal to a double ended 1k. Reminds me of blurple marketing. Also their light foot prints are smaller than claimed in most cases. So in general fuck what the fan boys say I won’t be buying HLG unless they give me 50% off on the new diablos and add controller hook ups. Lol.

remembering that run I had under that hlg fixture makes me wanna say fuck it and buy more ac and hps. I’d hate to fuck up a whole room as bad as I did that tent. Doubt it was the lights fault, but when this is pretty much my job I need these rooms to hit every time.

only pics i have are from chop day. the guy who gave me the strain says he hits minimum 4# a light and I believe him my last monocrop run.

its a Sundae driver. we both veg for 2 months.

I was at ~84F from beginning to harvest with 60% humidity.

I tested this strain in a 4x4 area under these same LEDs before monocroping it. gave just under 3 a light so i switched my whole room to it.

Idk if its my temps/conditions or the light spectrum but the 2 other guys who run this same strain get very dark purple nugs.... almost black nugs under HPS. Their temps are colder than mine is the only thing I know.

Now im running like ~80F with 55% humidity. When my lights turned off last run my humidity just spiked up just under 70% from 60%. . Im suspecting thats what caused the bud rot paired with the big, very dense nugs.

It spikes to around 63% now with lights off from 55%. so hopefully this lower humidity fixes the rotting issue and the lower temp gives more color.

They have nice fixtures, I ended up buying the gavita 1930 e. Right after I made my decision floraflex dropped their new fixture and for the price it would have been hard to pass up. Still considering them for my other room.

How much do these lights cost? My Spectrum Kings are getting old and I would really like to replace them with bar lights or whatever. Plus they are like 8" tall and I don't have much vertical space. I have one HLG 650r that is dramatically thinner, but they are expensive. It is a good light though.
