Well, ill try to explain to the best of my abilities, but im new to growing myself.
Since this will be your first ever grow, don't invest to much. get the basics down first.
LIGHTS:
Id say get a couple of clamp reflector's and some 20W daytime CFL's, There cheap, and any hardware store should have them, Get 1 clamp and bulb per plant, I just got 4 clamps and 4 bulbs from home depo for 30$
Keep The light about 2 inches away from the plant.
GROWBOX:
Since it is a closet grow, id suggest just grabbing some cheap tinfoil and covering the closet with it, since youll be growing with CFL's heat shouldent be a problem.
WATERING:
Most new grower's overwater, treat your plant like a catus, every 2-3 days stick a CLEAN finger in the soil, If you feel any moisture at all dont water, Have the soil go from water running off, to dry before you water again
Make sure the water PH is about 7.5, You can get a PH test from walmart for about 5$, Or you can get tap water, and let it sit out for 24 hours before watering,
SOIL:
Id say either get some Fox farm's, or some Miracle grow.
Pot:
You can either: A: start off in a small cup, and transplant it to a larger pot later, or do what i did, say fuck it. and just start them off in a pot big enough to last them there whole life, however i think starting them off in a large pot may have side-effects
MAKE SURE THE POT HAS DRAINAGE HOLES!
If it dosent, just poke some holes in the bottom for drainage, dont poke to many though, otherwise it wont hold soil.
THE LIGHT CYCLE
Personally, I went 24/0 till the plants sprouted, then switched to 20/4
However there are many different ways, Some people go 12/12 from seed to flowering, some go 24/0 till they want to flower, some go 18/6, etc, etc.
Make sure to switch the lights from on to off about the same time everyday.
FLOWERING:
Went the plant turns into a ladder, thats a good sign you can turn the lights to 12/12, Basically when the plants look like this
Make sure the growbox is 100% lightproof, if any light touches the plants during the dark cycle, bad things happen to good people.
